B12 result after 6 months…
Hi, So initially in October I was diagnosed with what they suspect to be pernicious
anaemia
, I had a negative IF test but due to me having diabetes and no other factors which could indicate why I was so low in B12 they put it down to me having pernicious
anaemia
.

Iron tablets
I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2021, and have been on iron tablets ever since, and my Gastroenterologist wrote to my GP and said I had iron deficiency
anaemia
and will be on iron tablets for life.

Pernicious anaemia
I have pernicious
anaemia
and it runs in my family. The doctor says her levels are in normal range and she hasn't got pernicious
anaemia
. I am extremely concerned about her health.

GP visit!
When I mentioned pernicious
anaemia
, she said ‘oh you would be anaemic’ if you had that! One thing I managed to get was a blood test for intrinsic factor antibody. Will probably come back negative so she will put ‘within range, no action required’. Again.

advice needed please re iron and thyroxine
I’ve been on Thyroxine for a number of years and have been fine, I’ve just been told that I have
Anaemia
and have started on Ferrous Fumarate tabs 210 mg. I’ve started to feel tearful and anxious this last week and wonder if the iron is affecting my thyroid?

Iron deficiency
In the meantime I'd started taking ferrous bisglycinate anyway, off my own back, both to help with
anaemia
and RLS. So the GP gave me a prescription for ferrous Fumarate (1 x 210mg once daily) and said to review in 4 months.

some advice needed please
She also said I have a strong family history of pernicious
anaemia
but on my last test in 2018 I had high Methylmalonic acid signalling intracellular B12 deficiency despite normal serum B12 , Current serum B12 levels are very elevated (>2000) which with other symptoms I have suggests there is a problem

Given Private Diagnosis But Antibody Test Is Negative? A Little Confused.
This was given in the context of seeking a diagnosis of my B12 deficiency which was said to be linked with the above, Pernicious
Anaemia
, antibodies attacking thyroid and gastric parietal cells. I have been on levothyroxin for 15yrs. He based this partly on my raised Anti-Tg (67IU/ml).
