rescue pack continued

I saw my Consultant on Thursday he said that sadly this is now the policy of all surgeries , but it’s not good for anyone with respiratory conditions. He has given me a new prescription for an antibiotic I’ve never had before:- Levoflixacin 14 days & a back up of Co-amoxiclav 14 days if I can’t tolerate

When the drugs don’t work

Hi All, Hope everyone is managing to keep well and warm. My Dad has been diagnosed with COPD for some time now, but our GP Practice has never really managed his condition properly. This has been a particularly bad year for coughs/chest infections and after many courses and antibiotics and steroids,

Bronch advice please!

Evening friends, Well Ive had an amazing run with no need for ABs for the last four years. But I guess it couldnt last for ever. After some nasty laryngospasm and inflammation which wouldn't resolve, I started a course of pred on Saturday and seemed to be responding, but it's gone south today and

Azithromycin Party

I have started prophylactic Azithromycin 250mg 3x7 . What a party....can't stop dancing toward the loo. To add to my joy, I have started CoAmoxiclav for a separate ailment. I am frightened to go out for fear of leaking . I know others here are using Azithromycin and wonder if you have similar reactions

Cough cough cough - Methotrexate?

I have PMR/GCA/LVV – all currently under control on 5mg Pred and 25mg MTX. However… I’ve had a terrible cough for three weeks now. Thank the Lord for Tena Ladies! I’ve gone through a bottle of Kovonia from the local pharmacist; a course of Doxycycline 100mg antibiotics from GP1 (telephone consult)

Regular UTI when I Self-Catheterise

I do this around once per fortnight to keep a stricture open. I have to take one Co-Amoxiclav when I do it and that prevents a UTI. I would prefer not to take the anti-bac tablet as worried about dependency. I suspect that the bacteria may be inside the urethra and gets pushed up into the bladder. The

Covid Booster

Hi, I'm on antibiotics, Co-Amoxiclav, and Cyclizine, for suspected gall bladder inflammation. I finish the course on 1 November and my Covid Booster is booked for 5 November. Does anyone know if it's OK to have the Covid Booster so soon after finishing antibiotics? Many thanks.

Sibo & Medications

I have had diffuse systemic scleroderma since 2011, I am 71 years of age. I had my first bout of sibo a year ago, for which I was prescribed metronidazole followed by co-amoxiclav, that worked perfectly. I have recently had another episode of sibo & took the same drugs, but it seems to be coming back

Reflux recovery after antibiotics

I have limited systemic sclerosis. For years I have had very bad reflux and investigations have revealed oesophagitis (now controlled by PPI s), a Schatzki ring, hiatus hernia. Nintedanib offers new hope as transplant recommendation approaches

Hi all, It's been a fair while since I last updated - longer than I'd have liked - but in a way its a good thing as I actually have a fair bit to update on as a result... The additional heart tests involving tracers, a CT scan and an hour long MRI which really tested my lung capacity with one or two

Root Canal/steroids/antibiotics-avoid?

Hi folk, About 3 months ago. I had a tooth abscess. I was given a course of amoxicillin that dealt with the infection but gave me terrible Thrush that took quite a long time to get on top of. This was before I was diagnosed with PMR, but I was suffering really badly with it. My dentist is up a flight

How to treat cystitis at home?

Although antibiotics are an effective treatment for cystitis, the body can often resolve minor, uncomplicated UTIs on its own without the help of antibiotics. People with apparent symptoms may need medical treatment. It includes quinolones, antibiotics such as levofloxacin, semi-synthetic penicillin

antibiotics while on chemo?

Hello, ladies. I am on cisplatin and Gemcitabine (Gemzar) and have developed an infection near an ancient root canal that I believe has finally failed. Has anyone safely taken a basic antibiotic such as amoxicillin while on this chemo combo? I have emailed my oncologist, but it’s just 6:00 am here,
