Advice please (for a newbie!)
Hi all, having been diagnosed by GP last month (apparently after her colleague missed hypo result back in 2005!) I've appreciated reading advice here from more seasoned colleagues. Really helpful guidance, am subsequently taking Levo last thing at night & Adcal (being post early menopause!) as far away

Shedding light on the sunshine vitamin - why is vitamin D linked to so many health issues and how much of it do we actually need?
Sadly the article doesn't say how much Vitamin D we need, but given many of us report improvements in our well being after finding we need Vitamin D3 supplements to boost our Vitamin D into the normal range, I though this article would be of interest. There is obviously a great deal more we need to

Read an article stating that some oral bisphosphonates (alandronic acid) prescribed for osteoporosis have been linked with bone loss and to ask your doctor to be changed to another treatment if you are noticing symptoms such as heartburn, or acid reflux and to be sure to have regular dental check-ups

Vitamin D or is it Vitamin D3, or are they both the same please ?
Months ago, after being newly diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and prescribed Levothyroxine, I'd been reading up on Stop The Thyroid Madness website that Vitamin D3 might help my (what I thought might be,) Fibromyalgia type pains. (I hadn't heard of Thyroid UK back then.) At my next Doctor's appointment

Making headway...vitamin B12
I managed to speak with my GP last week regarding my low level of vitamin B12 in the light of all my auto immune problems but in particular my under-active thyroid. My level was about 280 and the lab range was 225-1100 or there about. My GP began by flatly saying my levels were 'within normal range

Is Calceos (calcium and Vit D3) supplement the right one for thyroid problems?
I have half an underactive thyroid following removal of the right side for cancer treatment. They also removed a parathyroid gland that was imbedded in the isthmus tissue during and blood tests done in July (5 months post op) have found that I'm Vit D3 deficient and need calcium too. I've finally been

Vitamin b12 deficiency or pernicious anaemia? How to know the difference?
Recently you good people explained how my vitamin B 12 was way too low...it was somewhere in the 280 region (reference 225 - 1100). I am seeing my GP in the week and I need to be knowledgeable. As well as having coeliac disease and an underactive thyroid, I have been diagnosed with UCTD: recently I

Hi Peeps, I was finally diagnosed Hypothyroid last January. I had been arguing that I had all the symptoms for a good few years!
Adcal
D3
for my Vitamin D deficiency, Levo, Aspirin, Multi Vitamins, and painkillers for my joint pain which I now also believe to be due to my thyroid or a side effect from the Adcal?? I don't know for sure what to blame my depression on?

Vitamin D and Green Tea
Hi all - first post from me. My husband has CLL and I have read lots about the benefits of taking Vitamin D3. I want to get him on this. Any advice as to what strength? Have found a good make by Healthy Origins which is 10,000 IU. Also, any recommendations for green tea supplements?

'It's not lupus' (couldn't resist!), now ?CTD. How do I tell my employers who have bent over backwards for my lupus problems?!
I was given a diagnosis of lupus approx 2 years ago. Initially I was under the care of an immunologist, then as things progressed I was referred to rheumatology. I had my 2nd appt at rheumatology a few days ago. I was told my positive blood tests are now negative and my DNA shows I do not have lupus.

Very unwise?
Please can you help. I was diagnosed with an under-active thyroid 12 years ago age 40. Frustratingly, have other symptoms to manage too (I have coeliac and I am under investigation for a life time lupus / sjogrens type) autoimmune condition. I feel really cross with myself that I have blithely taken

Wondering what to do now?!
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, I'd really, really value your input and advice. I am not officially diagnosed with fibro but I have an 'undiagnosed joint problem' and I would like your advice on what you think I should do next. Can I say, fibro has not been ruled out. My joint pain

Latest blood tests results - opinions please
I phoned up my surgery today to ask about my results and the receptionist had a look and said that it was all normal. I then asked for a print out so I went up there to pick up them up. Here are the results: Vitamin B12 362 ng/L (211-911) Folate 6.19 ug/L (greater than 5.38) Ferritin

Vitamin D increases circulating IGF1 in adults: potential implication for treatment of growth hormone deficiency.
Although very few thyroid patients are ever tested in any way for growth hormone, there is sufficient research to suggest that it can be low-ish in those with thyroid issues. This paper suggests a possibility that vitamin D may be somewhat beneficial in this direction. The paper is directed at people

I paid for full bloods having stopped B12, B comp and Vit D. The aim was to check for anaemia and have an active B12 test?
Based on previous blood tests posted, I wanted to have active B12 test. St Thomas' Hospital confirmed I needed to stop supplementing for 4 weeks. So as a pre active B12 I decided to stop my vitamin D3 too and pay for an essentials blood test as it is nearly a year since I was last tested and my GP

I have a painful throat. Previous ultra sound showed cysts either side of my thyroid but not on my thyroid anyone know what that means?
As an addition I had breast cancer surgery 18 months ago and am taking
Adcal
D3
and Letrozole. I also have a large gall stone (which I have been told could be a result of a poorly functioning thyroid).

hello everyone. I am a new member to this site. My doctor has put me on adcal d tablets. Very confused.
I have had blood tests and was told my calcium levels were low due to a gland behind my thyroid gland therefore I have been put on the above tablets. since November last year to now I have put on 3lb per week could this have anything to do with the low calcium.
