Gave it quite a lengthy bash but it did nothing for me. Evidently it works for some people though, so worth a try.

Thanks Roz. How long did you try it for?

in reply toAfricanSheila

I took it for a full 3 months, so long enough for it to have made a difference if it was going to.

Okay - that's the length of the clinical trial at University of Sheffield.

If you are doing the trial at Sheffield, will you post your results so we can see if the Vit D3 is helpful to some, if not to everyone.

Sorry - I'm not doing the trial at Sheffield - I'm doing my own thing.

I think it helps me. Have been on VIT d3 for a few years now as it was mega low and recently upped the dose when I found out it helps with IBS pains...have notice an improvement...already on over 2000iu per day and tempted to up it a bit more.

Will be interesting to see what the trial comes up with.

Hey, where do you buy such a high dose from?

I buy the liquid Nature's Garden Sunvite from Holland and Barratt. 10 drops is 1000iu.

The advice I've had is that Vit D in high doses can be harmful to kidneys and something else so it's best to get advice.

I did, had tests and was advised by my endocrinologist.

She put me on 2000iu and said to prob take more in the winter. She also took high doses herself.

Helpful - thanks. The Sheffield trial is between 3000-4000iu.
