Former patients of the late Dr Gordon Skinner
This post has two purposes. First, so that everyone knows about the research itself. Second, so that anyone who does feel strongly can make use of the opt-out. While hoping that few, if any, use this opt-out, it is nonetheless right and proper that each and every former patient knows of this opt-out

I think when I saw the last one who was pants , they hadn’t cancelled this one, so I’m seeing this as a good omen……especially as it’s on Friday 13th ( was originally on the day the consultants were on strike) . Advice on Progress with T3 Trial
I started my T3 trial in July this year. My Endo asked me to reduce my Levothyroxine from 75 to 25mcg and to add 2 x Liothyronine 5mcg. I made changes slowly but was alarmed at dropping to 25mcg T4 so alternated with 50/25, eventually keeping at 50 mcg after an interim Medichecks blood test. I have

My results from private appt . Doctor recommends starting levothyroxine 75mg and retest in 8 weeks. Would have liked to prescribe t3 but due to my history of graves disease decided levo was worth a trial. Any experience with levo or T3 from former graves patients would be helpful to know. Body temperature
Been taking my temperature this week and surprised how low it is - varies from 35.2 to 35.8 but did reach 36.3 one day. Feel confident my Levothyroxine dose is right but wondering if low body temperature is normal with our condition or something else is causing it ?

TSH low the rest normal
Can anyone explain why my TSH is low yet the rest is normal? I know my new doctor will be onto this in a flash when they do a test shortly and probably reduce my levothyroxine (I`ve had this battle for years) The following is a private test T4 = 121 range 59-154 TSH

Higher CSF/serum free-T4 ratio is associated with improvement of quality of life during treatment with L-thyroxine
An interesting paper. Note a parallel with Pernicious Anaemia/B12 deficiency in which some have low CSF B12 while having high serum B12. Asking the question, though the answer is almost certan, has anyone ever had their CSF thryoid hormone levels tested? On Twitter: [i]Johannes W. Dietrich @drjwdietrich

Wockhardt supply issue?
Is anyone aware of a supply issue in UK of Wockhardt Levothyroxine? I was unable to fulfil my usual prescription in England last week, and have faced the same problem attempting to get it instead in Wales this week, with only Teva or Accord offered. A coincidence perhaps with an unlucky choice of pharmacies

Cancellation of Arthroscopy as low TSH
Good Evening Everyone I thought I would share this with you. I am scheduled to have a private Arthroscopy on Thursday 12th Oct. I had a pre op appointment and had some bloods taken on 30th Sept. I got a telephone call today from a nurse to say that the Consultant Anaesthetist was cancelling the operation

Having a hard time with levothyroxine.
Hello, I’ve just finished a full 6 weeks on 75mcg levo (after reducing dose from 87.5mcg as felt this was too much for me) on the higher dose I was very tired, had an upset tummy, hand tremors and heart racing. Is joint pain, muscle weakness and twitching, involuntary movements all side effects of

My GP has no idea how hypothyroidism has affected me.
I had a telephone appointment with my GP today. He told me that my blood my TSH is elevated and that I need an increase of liothyronine. I told him I have an appointment with the Endocrinologist in a week or so, hence the blood test. He then asked me when I was going back to work as I have been off

Regenerus cortisol & DHEA results
Hi everyone, In an attempt to gain a better understanding of what exactly is going on with me, I decided to take the Regenerus cortisol/DHEA saliva test. My motives were a sense of not being able to easily increase thyroid meds & not particularly feeling an improvement; waking nightly at around

Hi, I posted the other day with an endo recomendation request and it was understandably closed for comments, but I'd appreciate any general comments on these results please. I'm a man. I started TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) 4 months ago and just had follow up consultation after bloods this

So frustrated
I'm happy on 20 mcg lio and 50 mcg levo - but each year it's a battle to get the blood tests done. I have problems each year with the GP: generally they say they can only test TSH (which is obv a total waste of time given the lio) so I get the blood form from the endo. Four years ago, the GP did the

Newly diagnosed hypothyroidism.
Not been feeling great for past couple years. Tired and grumpy, weight gain, aches and joint pain, feeling cold but having night sweats in night. Put it down to menopause. Due to hearing not great had checkup at Dr's. I have tinnitus and ears were clear. Had blood tests 22/6/23 - Thyroid Funtion Test

T4 over range yet again due to side effect of Amiodarone. I have no thyroid, am on 25mcg levo daily now. In a dilemma
Hi all I am aware that most people on this site will have little knowledge about the drug Amiodarone so here is a brief account of what it is used for and it's potential side effects that can alter conversion of thyroid medication such as levo or NDT so pushing levels either up or down. It can also effect

HRT and thyroxine
Morning all, I have been stable on 175ugs of levo for about two years now and I also take HRT. In a couple of months I will be having a THR and have to stop HRT for four weeks. Does anyone know if this will affect how much levo I may need. I know you aren't medical but it would give me an idea as to
