🐣⏱No, not Easter Eggs, but minutes. Specifically how many Tim Peake spent exercising during his time on the International Space Station. And we will be trying to beat this time in a collective effort.
Are you in?
🏃♂️Tim Peake himself also famously ran the London Marathon in 2016, remotely from space. But we are not going to run, but rather count the minutes of every workout we are doing, except running or walking.
So wether you’re doing weights 🏋🏽♂️, rowing 🚣🏼♂️, belly-dancing 💃🏽, yoga 🧘🏾♂️ or hula hooping ⭕️, we will tot up the collective hours of workouts and see how long it takes to get to 22,320 min!
I’m doing daily yoga and additional workouts, but according to my calculations it would take me more than two years to reach that number of minutes! So how many weeks will it take us collectively?
So let us know how many minutes you exercise by posting in the replies. Let us know what type of exercise you do and how you feel about it. What do you like (me: child’s poses🧎🏼♀️, surprisingly), what do you loath (me: planks 😳) and what do you find simply yummy (me: daily morning easy yoga sessions)?
And on a weekly basis I will tot up the numbers.
★★★So in short:★★★
- By reply let us know how many minutes you exercise? And tell us about it! Per week or per workout, your choice. We’d love to read your workout reports!
- I will tot it up on a weekly basis. It’s hopefully going to become our weekly chat for the whole S&F community.
- A new post of our weekly chat-challenge will come out on each weekend, with totals.
- And save this post if you want to get notified of new replies.
Let’s see how fast we can collectively beat Tim Peake!
🤣🤣🤣 yes, I had a paragraph that didn’t make the cut, but it had the time in days. Here it is:
Tim spent 185 days and 22 hours in space, almost half a year! Like every astronaut he exercised 2 hours per day! That makes 372 hours during his time on the ISS. And yes, you guessed it, this is the equivalent of 22,320 minutes!
I’m in! Where/when do you want us to start logging?
🙌🏼🐌💫🛰🧘🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🏋🏻♀️💪🏼

Anytime from now.
I was thinking to do the weekly update always around Friday/Saturday as - to me - it feels it gives a good incentive to lay down good workout habits on the weekend where one normally has a bit more time to invest.
And you can post once a week or whenever you do a workout.
I think for my Yoga sessions I will do it once a week, as there is already a chatting opportunity. But for my other workouts, I might do it one by one.
As you can see, I’m also still thinking this through so we will probably collectively come to a way of making this work. And any suggestions are more than welcome.
Great stuff! Love that starry snail in space emoji!
I'm really enjoy the weights currently. Since I committed to working out every day I'm really starting to see positive changes in my body which spur me on to keep going even though a lie in might seem more attractive 🤣

📮✔️ Brill!
Yes, we’re ignoring running, although arguably Tim ran in space as well. But as we have other forums for that, I thought we might as well focus on anything but running and walking!
Weights, nice. Mr CBDB says he gets the same runner’s high feeling from weights as I get from running. I can’t compare as I’m not doing weights.
But do you get something similar to runner’s high from doing weights?
I don't get the same high (but then I am not running any longer) , for me the only equivalent - actually it is even a better one - comes from cold water swimming. Weights on their own don't have the same effect, but a CrossFit Wod does give me a 'medium' high - what a very confused answer!
Ok , have at long last joined the forum instead of lurking around 😂👻. Will need to do catch up reading what’s what but will post what I’ve done ( from the 1st ? Did it start ?) .
Since my calf strain put me on the IC I’ve been doing a lot more for Glutes , light weight strength and found lots of nice you tube stretching for runners etc .
Still trying to locate my core 😂😂 however getting better
👍🏽 yes, work on the glutes is great and will also protect your knees. Calf strain is a difficult one...hope you find a way to strengthen those. You are probably already using foam rollers?
They certainly helped me move from 5k to beyond, although ever since doing daily yoga, I’m needing them a bit less.
Great stuff and wising you strong calves. (That somehow sounds like farm talk 👍🏽🤣)
To date 85 mins , a mixture of Cardio Hiit, strength & stretch and dumbbell workouts. Will record a bit more accurately now which will be quite interesting for me to see better what I’m doing 🤷🏼♀️
I do exercise every day but it’s mostly moderate & aerobic .
woops, forgot to log so: in total since Saturday: 60 minutes OW swimming, 10 min of the legs workout (ouch!) - 45 minutes mobility - 45 minutes CrossFit - and 2 hours of grass mowing with a push mower (|not sure if this counts 😉)
I've got 66 minutes to add from my daily things. It's made up of single and double legged squats while cleaning my teeth 😂 Plus my daily plank, side plank, cobra practice, I'm trying to build the time I can hold the planks. I've been doing it for about 6 weeks and am up to a count of 40 on the plank and 15 on the side planks, these are still quite wobbly 🤣I do all this before I go downstairs and then if I get nothing else done I can still feel good ☺️
