22,320: a space chat-challenge odyssey (9/4/21)

★★★ UPDATE: 2,137min so far! That’s almost 10%! ★★★

Woohoo!! We‘ve exercised, lifted weights, rode horses, swam in open waters, rowed indoors, cycled outdoors, did both Pilates and Yoga, and wobbled our way through planks and squats towards our goal of reaching 22,320 minutes of workouts.

No belly-dancing yet that I could spot, but I think lawn-mowing with a push mower should count, right?

There is plenty of focus on core, on knees, on cardio, on hips , and on glutes. Collectively we are in great shape.

Tim Peake (corrected 11/4/2021. I originally sent Tim Henman into Space 😂😂) spent 185 days and 22 hours in space, almost half a year! Like every astronaut he exercised 2 hours per day! That makes 372 hours during his time on the ISS. And yes, you guessed it, this is the equivalent of our goal of 22,320 minutes!

We are 7 days in our challenge and have achieved already almost 10% of his total number of hours during his 185 days.

So on to the next week of workouts, and let us know what was hard, or if you noticed how strength or flexibility improved in some way.

Oh crickey...realised I haven’t logged anything since *last* Friday...so here goes...

Saturday: workout 13mins, yoga 36mins

Sunday: workout 14, yoga 22

Monday: yoga 44

Tuesday: workout 14, yoga 18

Wednesday: workout 13, yoga 8

Thursday: workout 14, yoga 15...

So total: 211 minutes...or 3 hours 31 minutes

...now just need to log the distances on COGH...and buy a shirt! 😂🙄

Yesterday 35 mins doing strength stuff and today 28.17 on yoga for courage YWA ( behind on it as had a very poorly mother in law...- now in hospital and on the mend)

Hi so far in April I have done 7 sessions of fitness studio or YWA - but only 147 minutes in total I’m afraid - as the other 10 exercise sessions were running or walking (which I don’t think you are counting?) Oh well - every little counts😂

I have 90 minutes zoom yoga from today and I fancied the YWA bedtime practice last night which I think was 20 minutes

👍🏽 Woohoo. Both Pilates and yoga. Do you do both on alternate days, or both on one day?

Pilates is a live Monday class on Zoom, the other is a recorded class so I fit it in when I can. The yoga was before and after runs - warm up or cool down - so would have been different days I think

Not a good week really as the hamstring /glute niggles continues and its left me feeling a bit fed up. No knee strength work at all 🙄 But the bright side is I'm now up to 50 seconds plank and 20 seconds each for the side plank from my daily practice. I've added some pigeon poses and extra stretches as well, plus the squats. So in total its 80 minutes for the week.
