I once had two(2 )oncologists.

l live in Bradenton and due to the drive to Moffitt in Tampa I once had another oncologist here at Florida Cancer.

She once gave me a second opinion about immunotherapy which I was hesitant to try (it was new at the time so I didn't try that)

She told me to just stay at Moffitt in case I needed to be hospitalized at some point.

I am so glad that I did because the Supportive Care Group (Palliative) is so marvelous at Moffitt!

I wish I had known about it right after my dual mastectomy in June I 2016.

After my surgery I only was given Anastrozole no ,chemo or radiation because the surgeon felt confident he had removed all the cancerous tissue.I took Anastrozole for two years and then feeling sick(nauseated around food) I had scans which detected cancer in my liver and bones.I was then told I had progressed from my original stage 0 to stage 4😳

It was late 1018 around Thanksgiving and in January 1019 I began Taxol infusions, then I was given IBrance until it topped working, then Zeloda and presently I am taking Verzenio and Tamoxifen remaining STABLE😊

Please have your Dad go to Moffitt and tell him to ask for Supportive Care!! I wish you the best 🙏❤️🙏

Hi Figlet, I am a fellow Floridian (now) and live in Clearwater. At present I am still working with my Oncologist in NY. He was there for me 14yrs ago with my original BC diagnosis. I had bilateral mastectomy & 6 rounds of chemo. After 14 years of remaining cancer free, at my annual visit, my markers showed cancer activity. After PETscan, Bone scan, and lung biopsy I was diagnosed with stage 4, MBC. Same cancer as the last time. I do believe our bodies will hold on to cancer cells or grow the same type.

My point in all this is that we can only do the best we can, at the time the choices you made were the right ones for you. We can never be sure of the outcome if we chose a different path along the way. I thought I was "cancer free" after surgery & chemo. I thought I had done it all, but cancer returned anyway.

I am happy to hear you are stable. Find strength in that. Day by day, it's all we can do.

Sending you positive vibes on this beautiful Florida day :)

Thank you so much for your reply ❤️

I have been holding some resentment towards my surgeon(although listed among the best at Moffitt). Hopefully I now feel differently about my personal experience!

I so appreciate this site for such great messages about things that we may encounter with this disease🥰
