Good news day....no a GREAT news day!

So I had a PET scan this week's and yesterday I got my results! After only 4 months on Ibrance, faslodex and xgeva and 10 rounds of radiation my tumours in my sternum, spine and ribs are inactive! My oncologist said it's this best result he's had for such a short time! To say I'm pleased is a huge understatement. To celebrate my husband and I are flying to our beautiful holiday home in Cyprus for some much needed fresh air (we live in Dubai☀️☀️). So hang in there ladies treatments do work. Love and positive healing vibes to you all 😘🌈😎

Jules, I am a few months ahead of you.. I have had 2 scans and stable disease... I have hips sternum spine snd ribs... my dr wants to ‘save’ radiation in reserve... but I just wonder why not do earlier to stop growth so we can all stay on Ibrance longer? Did you have bad pain or what was the trigger to get radiation?

Carolyn , (and all adults in England ), we can now get free weekly Covid rapid lateral flow tests posted to our home . I just registered online today on gov.uk /order-coronavirus -rapid-lateral-flow-tests Useful to have if travelling in the U.K. ! (Or can collect two packs of 7 tests , from some pharmacies , if prefer). Worth doing even if we have had both our Covid vaccines (these don’t give us as much protection as others if we are immunocompromised ).

Yes I heard that. I've had monthly tests through ons survey. I'm less concerned about me,more concerned that all those around me have got tested!😂 If you register do you then have to do them regularly or when you feel the need?

It says to take a test twice a week and report the results online or on the phone , on the same day you take the test . But not sure how strict they will be with it ? I will let you know when I receive my first pack in a couple of days time . I have my first hairdresser appointment on Thursday and a hospital mammogram the week after , as well as bloods at GP, and maybe will get out a little more once restrictions lift on Monday , so just thought it’s best to keep a close check on things . I agree I am more concerned about others around me being tested ! x

Have never had eyebrows done but might consider now as mine are blond and very fine . I normally use Clinique brush on eye brow colour to make them stand out more .

Wow! Great news and you live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. May I ask did you come here just for treatment? It would be lovely to see some pictures of Cypress however you probably want to leave all this behind and not think about it.

I have had 2 bone mets, one to ischium and one to sacrum. Neither one was causing pain but it was recommended by my oncologist and radiation oncologist to have 5 high dose treatments on each while they were small so I did, even though I was upset about having to do this. I did some research on these treatments and it sounded promising but after reading your post, perhaps I should have pushed back on this and not agreed to it. I told them I don't want to be having radiation every time a new lesion pops up.

Congratulations on your progress. I have a question on the need for radiation what did your oncologist say was the reason for this? I keep asking mine do I need that and she keeps telling me to hold off.

I had radiation because the pain in my sternum was debilitating. Helped so much and although it was painful when having it daily it definitely outweighed the relief I got in the end x

In my case, spine mets and 3 compression fractures were the initial findings, and only after they’re biopsied it was determined that the primary malignancy is breast. I had a lot of pain, but the primary reason for radiation of the largest mets (T4-T6) was a concern for neurological complications. Following 5 radiation sessions the the pain decreased significantly, but all my spine mets are still there and mostly unchanged. But 3 months later I developed radiation related pneumonitis. So in retrospective, perhaps starting with spine radiation wasn’t the best decision, but given the timing of events I understand why it was done.

Fantastic results. I’m thrilled for you. I have also had great success with Ibrance. Ibrance and Letrozole. Then Ibrance and Faslodex has kept my progression very minimal for almost four years.

Julesdubai, Congratulations on your treatment results. That’s great news and a break away to Cypress is an excellent way to celebrate. You can escape the heat for a while too. I lived in the UAE 🇦🇪 for six years and left in May 2018. I was diagnosed with de novo MBC six months later. I have fond memories of living in “the sandpit”. Dubai was a white knuckle ride from start to finish. 🤣 Vicki
