I have missed you all and hope you are enjoying summer as much as I am!
I know it’s been a while again!
I’m 3.5 years in now and still have NEAD! I keep pushing the fear away in the back of my head of the day this will no longer be the case!
But I must say, I am happier today than I was before this stage 4 diagnosis! It’s given me FREEDOM and a second chance at life! It was a huge wake up call for me and I am doing everything in my power to heal and not fight, but learning how to truly live!!
I turned 54 in Aruba together with the stage 4 ladies at my villas! We went on a catamaran and went snorkelling, had some booze and lunch and even swung off the boat by rope!! A day I won’t soon forget! 🤣
Next up is Greece in September! 2 different villas on 2 different islands! It’s already fully booked up! I have never been and can’t wait for that adventure! First I will go to the Netherlands to break up the long flight and to spread my mom’s ashes on the lake close to where she lived. She had a great life!
I’m also already working on going back to Aruba again in November! I’m so in love with that island, maybe I will buy a small condo there one day! Something to live for! 🤣
I made a special Facebook group, just for us ladies with stage 4 whom are still well enough to go on adventures! It now has over 2000 members! It started out as me supporting them, but I feel it’s the other way around now and they are supporting me more than I them! It makes me weep really, how one post turned into thousands and the many friendships I have established and how much love I have received. The link is below should you want to join as well!
Love you all so much! Keep plowing away, one day at the time! After all, it’s not how long you have lived, but how you lived with the time you have!
it’s great to see your update! Thanks for sharing. I always enjoyed your upbeat posts here.
I’m not into travel so much, but I love hearing about other people’s adventures.
I live in a rural area with a pool in the wide open backyard so that’s as far as I go lol.
I was diagnosed 3 years ago and while I keep waiting for a NEAD report, mine show improvement each time. Slow and steady but I feel great, I’m able to work full time and enjoy lots of time with my two grandkids ♥️
All the best with your next trip. I look forward to hearing about it
How are you doing? I have always enjoyed reading your posts as well! I’m not on this website that much to write but I do enjoy reading posts!
Oh, a pool is really all you need (I love swimming!) and those adorable grandkids will keep you young and on your toes! 🤣 I hope to experience that one day!
Love seeing your posts and so glad to hear you are NEAD. You are so right to keep truly living as the number one priority and not cancer. Keep being the sunshine every day 🌻
The Trodelvy is keeping my cancer under control and that is as good as it gets. I am very very happy about it since Trodelvy was only approved in February of 2023 for HR+ cancer . I was thrilled to see you have 2000 followers. A mighty group of fellow travelers. Thank you for continuing to be a positive force for others and organizing all those great trips for everyone. Hope to join you wonderful lovely ladies one day. Also here’s to more great scientific advances which will keep us all living life to the fullest. 🍾🥂 When I started my MBC journey in November of 2021 Trodelvy was not an available treatment for HR+ cancer. There is so much to be hopeful about.
Sometimes cancer grows really fast, sometimes slow and sometimes it’s not growing at all!
My best friend of 35 years had stage 4 bone cancer. She took one medicine but refused the other one (Ibrance!) and she still lived about 8 years! Makes me wonder sometimes if I should take all this horrible, toxic stuff! 😜
But the medicine seem to be a bit more helpful these days and not as toxic as they once were so that is great news!
Do you have FB? Here is my link so we can connect if you wish!
Good morning!! My onc said there was no such thing! And then the report said exactly that! 😂
I too take infusions! My GI system is upset from the Ibrance I take and sometimes I wonder if that’s worth it!! After all, we know the huge importance of our immune system having to work properly!! And this suppresses the immune system!
Not having to work has been a huge stress reliever! And moving my body as much as possible, in any which way and meditation and vegetable juicing etc, maybe my body can heal a bit!
That is so very awesome that you had this trip and have new adventures planned and also that you have this great group of ladies for friendship and support. Other than this site, I don't have any friends who are Stage IV Breast Cancer. I have also been NEAD for almost 4 years. I try to play golf every day while I am doing well, as I too know that one day I may not be able to do this. Anyway, have fun on your travels, keep doing well. I am going to check out your Facebook group. Sending hugs and prayers.
You are welcome! I too believe that the golf, fresh air and time with my other golfing ladies has helped me to survive and thrive. Moving to Florida 4 years ago was the best decision ever. I will check out your group! Thanks for the link. Hugs
Congratulations to you! Such wonderful news!!!! I would CB love to go to Aruba some day, but right now seems my travel days are over. I love the Netherlands, we lived in London for six years and went twice. I have wonderful memories of travels in Europe and glad we all had the opportunity. Cheers and my best to you. Hugs!!!
I love to travel. Going on a Safari in September and have trips planned in 2025 to Morocco and Greece. Going everywhere I have an opportunity to go while I can. Feel pretty good on Ibrance and Anastrozole for a year now. I am more optimistic now than last year when my cancer had been detected in my bones after 22 years from initial diagnosis. Reading posts here has helped a lot to understand that there are many new treatments available. Enjoy your travels!
Oh my goodness 😱 You are a girl after my own heart! What a great time you will have on Safari! Wow wow 🤩 I have lost some weight, maybe I can fit in your suitcase? 😜
So nice to have so much to look forward to and that is a GREAT thing!!
I agree! The ladies in here are true fighters & bad asses! Their support is uncanny and I have learned so much and it has given me much hope as well! 🌈
Send us a post card!! And pictures of course! Maybe we can connect on FB?
what an awesome post! And great photo! This just cheered me up. Definitely checking out your FB group as it can be isolating this MBC thing. Someone said to me yesterday Hey you look great! All done with treatment ! And I’m like oh no, I will actually never be done. Your trips sound amazing - got to keep moving and living!! Hugs, Elizabeth
What a delightful message! I must say, I truly enjoy hearing from all you ladies!
I often, always feel tired and I know people don’t want to hear that all the time. But we must educate them as well because they really don’t have a clue! Which is why my trips with ladies is so awesome because they get it!!
I am taking beautifully care of myself and I must say, it does feel great to look great! The goal is to look and feel better than ever before! 😜
I’m living my dream life now! I’m in total, blissful denial! Hahahahaha
Oh honey, I’m so sorry to hear that! Are you wheelchair bound due to your cancer?
I tore my meniscus once when I fell of the ski lift but I managed to still go to the Netherlands to visit my mom, wheel chair & all! Quite the experience! 😜
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I’m severely mobility impaired due to cancer. I had a major compression fracture at T4-T6 level. Unfortunately, the surgery wasn’t done on time which led to cord compression.
I still mange to travel a bit in a wheelchair with my husband’s help. It’s day to day things and completely loosing my independence that killing me.
Awww sweetie, that is so hard!! To be such a strong, independent woman one day and then end up like this due to timely circumstances! Jesus!!
But we can’t turn back the clock now and it did happen, so now you must work on embracing it and surrendering to it! Many people in wheelchairs still live a very fulfilling life!! Try sweetheart, try! Do whatever you need to do, to accept and love yourself this way!!
Let me know if you are on FB! I would love to connect!
I don't think I will get to NED, but stable is good. Thank you for your facebook page. I too know no one else with MBC. Would love to do one of your trips , just need dates that fit my own travel plans.
