Petscan Results - Great News!

Did another petscan last Monday and the results compared to July's last scan were an absolute blessing. Scan summary says: "No definite hypermetabolic lesion to suggest FDG avid locoregional recurrence or metastatic disease. Stable faint uptake in right small axillary scar, likely post procedure. Interval resolution of uptake in the liver, pancreas and glenoid process of left scapula. Findings are suggestive of favorable response to therapy." So it seems to have resolved most of the tumors with the exception of a small lesion in the right axilla (lymph node).

I have been over the moon all week and my girlfriends put a weekend together for me at a wellness spa in the Catskills. Beautiful lakeview room with was lovely to see the trees change color. Super swanky and it was beyond amazing and so needed. Was nervous due to Covid but had two masks on all the time, except when dining but they only allowed so many people in and we were super spread out. Was able to get treated to hot stone oil massage, ayurveda therapy, mud therapy, salt glow therapy, yoga, etc. If you ever want to treat yourself check out YO1 Wellness and Health Spa in the Catskills.

It felt like heaven but now I am back out of the clouds and realize that although the scan report was incredible I am not out of the woods. Have to keep going strong with my conventional and alternative treatments for the hope of one day seeing NED. I feel like I'm close but I'm not letting my guard down!!!

My husband was super happy but concerned because I am still in pain. The side effects from chemo and hormone therapy are no joke. I feel like I aged 30 years in 10 months. Joint pain and arthritis seems to be getting worse. I take an epsom salt or mineral dead sea salt bath every morning and that helps. My oncologist suggested Krill oil but I am vegan. I may have to give in though. I grew up taking cod liver oil every day. My mother made it mandatory.

Good news 😍🙏❤️

Hi,

That is wonderful news! Thanks for sharing your good news. It gives us all hope to hear that even with metastatic breast cancer there is hope of a "favourable response" to treatment. Isn't that what we all long to hear? I would love to enjoy a pampering weekend too. I should look into it!

With regard to the krill oil, I hear you. I'm not vegan, but I don't eat fish, so I refuse to take any fish oils too. I take a vegan omega 3 supplement from Cytoplan instead, so I can get the benefits without the added fishiness.

Thank you Sophie for your response. Will check out the Cyoplan supplement! I want to make a proposal to wellness spa to give away one or two weekend getaways for mbc patients. It would make a world of difference!

in reply to Dancer1000

You’re welcome. Are you in the UK? I would really love a wellness spa getaway. I think we could all benefit from some pampering after all we have to go through not just physically but mentally and emotionally too.

No not in the UK. I am in New York City. The spa was in upstate NY.

Yes, I think it should be a given for our treatment plan!!!

in reply to Dancer1000

Ah, OK. Stay safe. It’s devastating to hear how badly New York has been hit by this pandemic. The situation is quite bad here in the UK too as we deal with a second wave and further lockdown restrictions in some parts of the country.

I've heard. Be careful and take care of yourself. It is beginning to spike again in NYC. I wear two masks everywhere and minimize how much I do. The weekend was a risk but I vigilant as much a possible.

in reply to Dancer1000

Thank you. You be careful too. I just found out that some teachers and children from two schools in my town have tested positive for Covid-19 and a friend’s son may also have it. Also, someone tested positive after visiting the social club, so he may have infected others. We just have to be so careful and not become complacent.

Yep! That is why my husband and I decided to homeschool our 11 year old. No way were we letting him go back into the building with a high possibility of infection and then bring it home. Besides, we were not happy with the NYC public school education so we are teaching him ourselves with the exception of math. No way could I teach math!! Hired a math teacher for that.

in reply to Dancer1000

I can certainly understand why you and your husband have decided to homeschool your son. You have to do what you think is best to protect him and yourselves from infection. I'm not good at maths either, so would need help with that too!! I can't help thinking back to what my GP said to me back at the beginning of this pandemic. He said I am "likely" to develop Covid-19. I don't know why he would say that! But I am doing all I can to protect myself.

Hi SophSP - Don't know why I missed your response before and am just seeing this! I am sorry your GP said that to you! So negative. Don't accept that attitude and hopefully you can prove him wrong. How are you doing?

in reply to Dancer1000

Hi,

I didn’t accept my GP’s attitude then and nor do I accept it now. I’ve been doing my best to stay safe and avoid contracting Covid-19. I spoke to my GP (the one I normally see, not the negative one) and she told me I would be eligible for the vaccine when my turn comes. I’m in Category 6.

My county has entered tier 4 today, which is basically another (third) lockdown. We were tier 2 where I live, as infection rates and deaths were lower, but they have crept up.

I am doing well health wise. I found out recently that I am in remission.

Ahh I love spaing and think a getaway weekend will do me wonders may just plan one for my upcoming birthday! I recently started new treatment and will get blood work in 2 days. Insurance rejected genome test I’m appealing I already took it and imagine they say it’s not necessary when my onc needed results to actually plan course of action! Have a very ill brother who has no one but me,My 2 daughters are good my older went through anxiety and tremors which caused a good bit of turmoil. Spent my weekends out East this summer which made Covid bearable now it’s time for a fall pick me up!

Congratulations on the amazing update! And thanks for sharing the great view from you window! (Vicarious water views are better than no water views...sigh!).

p.s. loved your use of the word "swanky"! I haven't said/heard that word in a very long time, but it's great one! :)

Wishing you many more great scans and get-aways!

Hi Dancer1000 ! I'm new to this board as of October 2020 when I was hit with MBC. ER/PR+ Positive, Her2 Negative. I'm going after this puppy. Had a lumpectomy in 2019 - chemotherapy for 4 months and 2 months of radiation. but it came back in the same place (at that time I was Stage 2) Lymph nodes and such. I have a PetScan coming up late May. So far what I'm doing is being on iBrance/Faslodex, and doing the CoC (Careoncology.com) protocol. My tumor markers are dramatically dropping each month and the open tumor on my right breast is almost gone. Praying for awesome results. AND, I live in Arizona and did go to a spa. Your spa looks better ! xo Julia Adele
