My post last year about getting good scan results seemed to be welcomed by many in this community. So, here's another post on my latest status. To refresh, I've been Stage IV since diagnosis in 2012. After NED in 2013, I had a recurrence in 2017 and have had radiation for cervical vertebrae and IV chemotherapy and added immunotherapy for ~ 18 months. My prognosis was not good with less than a six months life expectancy.
I took a break from chemotherapy in mid-April of this year because I just needed a break. Side effects were adding up and I was so tired that quality of life was suffering. Thankfully, my Onc. was receptive and supportive. I've continued only on immunotherapy for the last few months.
The good news is that both scan results since April have shown stability in all my mets and some shrinkage. I'm grateful and wanted to share. I continue to beat the odds with this disease. I know some people rule out chemotherapy in-hand, but it can put disease at bay. It's a personal decision, but I would just suggest for patients to consider all options before ruling out a treatment because it scares you. It's scary, but I'm here to say, it's keeping me here. And my QOL is pretty darn good, even with Covid-19.
Many blessings to you all.

Thank you so much for your very uplifting post. I hope and pray you continue to do well. If you don’t mind my asking, what IV chemo were you on and did you have the IV chemo for 18 months?
Thanks for sharing your good news. I agree that it’s a good idea to keep an open mind rather than dismiss chemotherapy just because of fear of the side effects. I am in favour of it if it can beat back the disease and shrink the tumours.
We always like to celebrate the happy news. 🥂. So happy for you. We are also like to send hugs to ladies who don't get good news. But we are celebrating you today!!!! Blessings, Hannah
I wonder down the road, too Ruby. I try not to get more than a few steps ahead in my mind though!
Lynn! How did I miss this post?! Thank you so much for sharing for really good news! It is definitely encouraging to know that your chemo is making a positive difference, especially after things had looked pretty grim!
