Hi .. as per previous posts my rls is extremely bad a few times a week , my ferritin levels were 41 before but have gone up to 74 today after more blood tests last week . ( I’ve been taking iron ) However , they said I’m deficient in vitamin D so I had a look online and they say studies have been linked to rls , anyone heard of this ( especially Sue ) I’ve just got some vitamin D supplements so we’ll see 😏
vitamin D ? : Hi .. as per previous... - Restless Legs Syn...
vitamin D ?
Low vitamin D causes hepcidin to increase which blocks iron absorption.. Low vitamin D can also causes dopamine deficiencies. Take your vitamin D with a fatty meal
It doesn't help everyone. I've been taking daily 10,000iu of Vit D3 with K2 for the last 15-20 years to help my MS. I had severe refractory RLS for most of that time.
The doctor advised to start taking a supplement as I’m very low on vitamin D anyway , then I read up and saw a possible link to rls so worth a try , mine is flaring up in the early hours now from about 4am as well as in the evenings ..
I’ve had rls for decades but fairly mild only before bed usually so it would be a bonus if this is why it flared up badly lately 🤞
I was also found to have low vit D levels. I have been taking supplements for about a year now. I started with 2000iu a day for twee weeks but found it effected my sleep. I have cut back to 800iu a day in the winter and 400 in the summer depending on how much sun I get. It is very important to take with fat.
