Either would be ok.

Magnesium glycinate is the one usually recommended. Start off with a low dose like 200 mg to make sure you don't have side effects.

Glycinate, malate or citrate will all work - that's if you respond to magnesium supplementation, which not everyone does by any means!

If you're in the UK citrate is easier to find - in e.g. Holland & Barrett or some pharmacies, although not in Boots - but citrate is more likely to have a laxative effect than the other two, which you're more likely to have to order online.

If you're in e.g. the US you're more likely to find glycinate easily.

My doctor strongly recommended citrate.

Yes, this is the most likely to be recommended in the UK - and I've found that taking no more than 200mg at a time and no more than 600mg a day causes my sensitive gut no problems. But people vary of course, and it may be problematic for some.

Citrate is the easiest to find but in higher doses it causes diarrhea so glycinate (bisiniglate) is recommended.

Yes, citrate can cause diarrhoea in some people - particularly if you take a lot in one go - but I was taking 3 × 200mg spread throughout the day without problems, and I have quite a sensitive gut

I was taking H&Bs 400mg tabs. Three was too much. I wanted to increase the dose to see if it would reduce my hypiertension.
