It generally comes as a powder or tablets - the tablets say 100mg each (serving size is 2). The powder is one level teaspoon (2.5g) is 250mg. You could start with a 1/2 dose to see how you react. Magnesium glycinate is an interesting supplement with the potential to help sleep due to the magnesium itself and the glycine. Glycine also helps with the absorption. Dietary magnesium can also help - pumpkin seeds contain 150mg of magnesium/ounce.
I began taking magnesium glycinate several years ago for migraine. I struggled to find suggestions for dosage so it ended up mostly trial and error. Recently, augmentation caused me to decrease my Requip, so I increased my mag glyc. Currently I take one 665 mg tablet after breakfast. again after lunch and again after dinner. I am finally sleeping about 5 hours a night with minimal breakthrough episodes but I am still on 1 mg Requip at bedtime. I had blood drawn yesterday but will have to wait a few days to get iron results. I am scheduled for a home sleep study next week. It seems to be a never ending job to tweak treatment options like Rx meds, OTC meds, exercise and diet but info from this group has been very helpful.
Hi,
Along with Pregabalin & other supplements, my psychiatrist has recommended 400mg, which I take PM with no side effects for last 16 months. I also take high dose omega 3 am along with a multi vitamin.
