Tramodol
Hi beady I only take 1 of these at night 50mg ,with half clonazapam and half pramapexel
Hi Beady, are you sure it is the Tramadol not working any more? I looked at several of your earlier post and you have a history with rls and meds. You also started the fodmap diet and that seemed to help as well.
Has something changed in the last 2 weeks?
An increase of symptoms is either the rls going through an active period for some reason or it is augmentation on a DA (dopamine agonist, such as pramipexol and ropinirol, and yes, also the Neupro patch). You may have become tolerant to the Tramadol, so you start feeling your rls again. But that shouldn't be augmentation.
Maybe you have to come off the Neupro. And to deal with the withdrawal, you may have to temporarily! increase the Tramadol and maybe also the gabapentin. You didn't say what dose you take of the latter. When you are through withdrawal, you may be able to cut down Tramadol and gabapentin down again to your current doeses.
All this only if it IS augmentation. What do you think???
Others with more experience and maybe with a more similar history to you re rls may be able to help you better in deciding whether it is augmentation or not. I assume you are familiar with the telltale signs of augmentation: return of symptoms, earlier in the day, shorter duration in hours of current meds, etc.
Hope this helps you decide how to proceed. Keep posting, we are here to help.
PS. I take 50 mg Tramadol and 200 mg gabapentin, both between 8-9PM.
And iron bisglycinate to keep my ferritin level above 100.
Thanks LotteM, I know it isn't augmentation I had that withRequip, I have just got up properly and given up any sleep that was 20 mins last night ,I take 100mg Pregablin and 120 mg iron of the doc I have gone of the rails with the sweet stuff so maybe its that will definitely be stopping that That is the only thing I can think of ,I just hope I get some sleep today Or it will mean a miserable day x
LotteM I have got to tell you after my awfull nights,I have been stricken with my diet and last night I had 11 and a half hours sleep I feel so good today. Thanks x
Hi beady, sounds like all the sweet stuff you have been having then, sugary foods and drinks can be a trigger for some people, so that could be yours. Get back to stopping them and see if things improve again. Hope you get a nap in today.
I I take 1 50 mg tramadol every 6 hours around the clock. I also take 1 mg of requip. Seems to do the trick.
Ohhh Beady, I can definitely relate to that! I have a sweet tooth (inherited from my father and maternal grandparents), and especially when I am tired after yet another bad night, I have lots if difficulty not giving in to that craving. When I do - twice last week - rls is alive and kicking again. Otherwise the meds keep it under control.
I can handle a little bit of sugar/ sweet things, though.
I’ve been taking Tramadol for 7 years now and it works. My pain doctor assured me they are not addicting and if I wanted off I could taper down to nothing over a two week period I could. The problem I think arises when you take more then the Tramadol. The thing you have to understand is it’s a slow acting drug. I take 100mg at noon, 100 mg at 5pm and 100 mg at 8pm. Normally go to bed at 11pm. I’ve had RLS for 20 years and this is the best I’ve ever felt. No walking at night and no kicking my wife while trying to sleep.
