i have stopped smoking , i am on my 4th week now. I find it helps if i get the urge to nibble on something. i have a dish with fruit and nuts in, also some fresh diced melon which is very refreshing. so this takes my mind off wanting a cigarette.

I found that if I was craving a cigarette and I was at home or in the car I would put on a cd of a favourite track something uplifting and I would sing along and dance (not in the car obviously) and that would get my over the craving..
Hi JillyGirl, I munch on fruit pastels at work because they are nice and fruity, just like me!!!!! ha ha, sorryyyyyyy, but they are tasty and they work with me and help with the cravings, allthough i am going to buy some carrots and cut them into chunks, put them in a resealable erm sandwich bag, and try them next week. I like carrots and they are full of nutrition, so will be more healthier for me. I will let you know how i get on!!! keep up the good work gal and snack on that fruit and no choc!!!!! maybe just at weekends then.
I know it sounds mental, and will probably make you look and possibly feel a bit crazy but acknowledging the craving I've found helpful. If it comes along, I actually talk to it- tell it I know it's there and to go away (sometimes I don't do it politely or calmly admittedly)! I got the idea from a method used with panic attacks and phobias; if you acknowledge that it's there and accept it and then in your own way control it (telling it to go away) it may help. Doing this in the middle of Co-op got me some very strange looks but I don't care- I am in control! (And possibly a bit nuts).
Hi Lenne that sounds like a good idea think i'll try that one, might be better than screaming in the park, which i did a while back, i'm a bit nuts too lol, hope things are a bit better for u today, it will get easier over time, just keep strong and keep shouting those cravings away ((hugs))
Good tips here but as I couldn't get to them yesterday I had to resort to shouting in the spare bedroom and eating crisps and chocolate but I will be better today! (Even though I still am feeling constantly like I want one) Heigh ho, early days yet I guess.
reading all your tips , on stopping the urge , I am a bit like Sue , Lenne, and andie. I shout out now and again, or i talk to myself, I call myself stupid, and say if youve gone all this time you would be an idiot to start smoking again. Usually works to calm me down,. Trouble is hubby wonders who i am talking to. There again he knows how daft I can be.
