2 weeks smoke free

hello I am two weeks smoke free today I don’t find the cravings as bad. I am not sleeping great at all and I feel very depressed and no joy. Is this normal I am hoping it will pass . In the past my smoking was linked to traumatic life events and I used smoking to cope. I miss my old routine of smoking and to help me cope. I am trying to make new routines and reminding myself that smoking didn’t help me during difficult times . I just feel down.

Hi Hopesanddreamss, first of all a huge well done for 2 weeks smoke free🚭💪👍👏

What you’re feeling is very normal as nicotine stimulates the release of dopamine in the brain and dopamine is involved in triggering positive feelings. We have to find another way to do this when we quit smoking. Exercise is very good for this so try and engage in activities that make you feel happy and relaxed.

If you’re taking any medication it’s always a good idea to check with your G.P. In case any adjustments in dosage are required.

Your body and mind are going through huge changes so hang in there as it will improve. In the meantime be kind to yourself as you’re doing really well🤗xx

Hi Hopes and dreams , Well done on achieving 2 weeks,

You have had excellent advice from our lovely Briarwood. If you go into this link there is plenty of information on depression /anxiet emotions.

Why not give youself a treat for doing so well. The money you save by not smoking , should help you treat yourself.

Remember every day you stay quit the nearer you are to being a permanent Non Smoker.

You can do this. 😊xx
