I find it amazing that I can actually say the words 'i have been stopped smoking for 3 months'! My stop smoking journey has been tough at times, the physical side effects made me struggle with my mental health however my running helped me recover my mental health quite quickly so I was lucky as this created a cycle..... not be able to sleep, feel depressed, go for a run, feel amazing, remember that stopping smoking helps me run better and REPEAT!

Now I am sleeping like a baby once more, I don't think about smoking every second of the day and better still I can go cuddle my 2 week old grandson and not smell of an ashtray!

Life is good but it has taken 3 months to get here.

I smoked my last cigarette on the 1st Sept but I can honestly say that EVERY single day for the first 8 weeks was a big challenge as i was really struggling to sleep and that in turn made life HARD. Once that passed things have got easier and now i feel as though all the hard days were worth it.

Stick with it, you can do it and remember that if it was easy then everyone would do it... you are the amazing ones because you can do this!

Thank you :) I recommend giving it a go no matter how unfit you feel you may be. I downloaded the couch to 5k podcasts and away i went. The first run almost finished me, i could hardly walk the next day but by run 3 the aches eased and i started to enjoy it more. First run was the 12th August and by the end of 2019 I will run 10km, I am never going to win a race but with each run I am a winner because I feel amazing and last weekend I ran 8km without walking one step! I used to get out of breath running a bath as I did NO exercise because my spare time was spent smoking.

Also, the money saved from stopping smoking has been spent on some nice running shoes :)

Wow that is super - I absolutely hate running - I think it’s because I could never breathe - and we all know why! Mmm good idea on the saving side - new pair of trainers for running!!! Oooh I think I quite like this idea 👍😘 thank you 😊

Sounds so promising!! Positive stories are just so uplifting, thank you. Love the idea of running, but brisk walks are pretty much my limit at the moment. Great work though✅
