Hi AT, you're having what is known as mind games. It's the addiction part trying to get you to smoke again.

Just think....... By lightning up you can solve the problem for 5 minutes, by NOT lightning up you can solve the problem for the rest of your life.

Remember the 4 D's...

Delay

Deep breathing take 5/6 deep breaths, concentrating on the air going in and out.

Drink water drink a tall glass of water

Do something do anything go for a walk, phone a friend, clean your teeth.

You are stronger than cigarettes.

Aup AT and welcome to our Community :) and a big WELL DONE YOU for not giving in :) I see our lovely Tubby gave you some great advice :) :)

Smoking and drinking alcohol go hand-in-hand I'm afraid, there the best of friends :o Quite a few of us have had to quit drinking too, to start with and then gradually have one or two now and again.

So maybe just cut down a bit until you get stronger in your quit journey :) Good luck pal :)

Well done for staying strong! I'm on a similar time scale to yourself and drinking has always been my biggest downfall, I would get to X amount of weeks not smoking - go for a drink then smoke again.

This time I'm giving up alcohol as I know it is my path back into smoking, if you feel similar it might be worth giving up the booze for a while (or at least until you feel you have a hold on smoking).

Good luck!

Good morning everyone. Yes, it has crossed my mind to quit drinking in order to kick smokes permanently. I'll try it for a few days and see how I get on. 🌟🌟Thank you :)

Morning AT you don't have to quit drinking completely just in the first few weeks. Both are a dangerous combination but once you're broken the link/relation. You will find you can drink without smoking.😊😊😊

It’s certainly much more difficult to stay strong when you’ve had a drink so it’s a real good idea that you stop drinking for a few weeks. You need to break the association between alcohol and cigarettes

Try to keep Strong AT132. Thats the only time i felt i needed a ciggy. Over time the urges will subside. Good luck. Brian

So I've been checking on the group everytime I have a craving, it seems to be working well. Thank you all for being so wonderful and supportive xoxoox

Btw, toast and marmite seems to subside the cravings for me 😅

All we need now is Tubby the girlie to enjoy hot toast with lashings of butter and a generous smear of marmite (with either coleslaw or sliced cucumber on top).

I really must put aside some time

re-educate your palate to the joys of marmite. I’m sure you would love 💕 it (maybe).
