Hi I have quit for 10 months now! And I have noticed my breathing is probably worse than when I was smoking anyone been through this and came out feeling better or just the same?? Im hoping when I make it to a year and a half all this breathing problems will disappear. Iv smoked for around 20 years approx 10 cigs a day. Iv got asthma which was caused by the cigs so was hoping to not have asthma after I quit! Any help/ advice?

Hi - is it all the time that it seems worse or just certain times? Are you on an inhaler for your asthma? Maybe check with you GP because logically of course quitting smoking should not make breathing worse. I am much better now since I quit and I have ACOS. I hope you improve & get full benefits of quitting.

Its def worse in hayfever season! I use to be on fostair but now I only try to use ventolin. It's like I'm fine only for 4-5 hours after taking my ventolin inhaler then I struggle to breath again afterwards🤷‍♂️ did you notice a difference in breathing as soon as you quit?

Started noticing significantly around 6 months after I quit. But like you, have allergies and am frequently short of breath after pollen exposure. I think the ventolin can be used multiple times per day? My prescription says up to 4x per day.

The only thing im worried about is the asthma nurse doesn't like me using my ventolin multiple times per day as this is termed uncontrolled asthma🤷‍♂️

Hi Too, just wondering if you use a spacer with your inhaler as a friend of mine does and reckons the inhaler goes to your lungs better this way, rather than a lot ending up in your mouth. She has a preventative one as well as ventolin, I know everyone is different but just passing this on to you. Hope you find one that suits you as it’s very much trial and error.

Congrats 10 months smoke free, well done🚭✅xx
