Hey guys, I have my first lap sugury on the 18th of this month. My doctor says I should quit now before it. That I'll have less risk of complications and heal faster. But I'm worried that if I quit now the moment I'm out of the hospital all the stress, fear, pain and of course my lovely phobia of docs and hospitals will push me right back into smoking. Should I wait to quit till after? Or quit now even though the risk of me starting again is so high? What would you guys do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hi Rin, yes to give yourself the best possible chance, don’t put it off. You’ve got 2 weeks before your surgery and your healing will be so much better without smoking🚭✅💕🌻xx
Hi Rin,I agree with Briarwood you have 2 weeks before your surgery,however after smoking 2 packets a day I would seriously consider vaping, so that the withdrawal symptoms are at a minimal until you're strong enough to deal with them.
Either vape or consider patches,either way is far better than smoking.XXX
Thanks for the advice. I think your right about vaping or patchs. I actually have a vape so I think I'll use that. Your right when you say anything is better than smoking. I actually switched to vaping once went 104days without smoking. But then my health went bad thus the reason I'm having surgery. I know it was dumb to start smoking again. But I thought maybe just maybe what was going on was a reaction to quitting. I now know better. I did it once I can do it again right? At least that's my hope. Thank you for reading and responding. Rin I'm sure you will manage to quit again. I Quit for 4 yrs,10 years ago,completely underestimated the addiction factor and fell right bask into nic's arms. Now,5 years on I've managed to stay quit for 13+months.

Quit now and be steadfast , if you can fight out two weeks of quitting with all the anxiety surrounding the operation , you can definitely keep the quit going once your operation is successful and you are much relaxed ...

Thank you for asking. I'm trying really hard to quit. I've read everything I could really find online about it. I haven't quit yet but I'm down from 2packs a day to about 1 pack. I just can't seem to make it past the 4hour mark. I just keep trying though. Do you have any advice? Is the four hour mark usually so hard? I start feeling like I'm going to pass out or have a heart attack or both? Is there something I can do to help that? I really appreciate your time and help.
This site has been a true godsend to know that if I need it there are people here to talk to and that they will be supportive is unbelievable helpful. I hope one day when I have finally quit I will be able to come on here and help others quit.
First of all well done on cutting down the amount you smoke. That in itself is such a big step. You should be proud and happy, u r moving in the right direction. It is tough trying to quit smoking, so the first thing to understand is, that it is on if you fail in your attempts. Just keep trying, that is all u can really do. I don't even remember the number of times I failed before I finally managed to quit for good. I struggled for years, got frustrated with myself, thought m just hopeless and don't have this thing people call will power. M sure most of our members here know this feeling. So please please do understand n know u r not alone, we have all been here and many are going through it still. So don't be hard on yourself. Just keep trying. Every time try n push yourself just a bit harder than last time. U will succeed, of that u can be sure. Just keep trying. Don't ever quit trying to quit smoking. Smoking causes many health issues (physical n psychological), they will also start to heal/go away once you quit for good. N u r 26, so age is on your side. U can undo most of the damage smoking might have caused. Think of this in every attempt, n u will notice u are able to do better in each attempt. God bless. U can do this..
