Hi guys, you’ve probably heard from many others in a similar situation, you know the one, just lost a young member of the family to cancer and it scares you witless!
Well I’m that person.
I must quit smoking for both my personal and mental health but I seem to go round in circles. Any additional advice to help me quit for good would be really appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

It will be the best thing you can do for yourself and family. Cancer is scary and the sooner you quit , you will be more likely not to get cancer or heart related illnesses.

Hello Cheryl, I’m only three days in myself and thankfully haven’t had a loss like yours so please accept my condolences.
Like you I’ve tried many times to quit and am currently using patches, which definitely takes the edge off. Not sure how I’m going to be when the patches phase out though!
There are lots of lovely, supportive people on here that have oodles of experience so I’m sure there will be lots of tips coming.
For me, I’m 47 and have two young children. I’m quitting because I want to do my best to be there for them in the future. Also, my brother is disabled and probably only has a year or two left in him, which is terrible for my parents and I don’t want to add to their worries.
In short, I’ve identified the key reasons I want to quit and am using them as a focal point when I’m feeling rubbish.
I’m sure you can do it, good luck and best wishes.
Hi Chizel, Well done for your decision to quit👏 and welcome to QUIT SUPPORT.💙
I too decided to quit seriously when I realized there were an awful lot of friends missing...
I suggest you make a list of your reasons for quitting, write it on paper and stick it on the fridge or somewhere you often go. I still have mine on the fridge after 13 months. I also have a screen saver on my phone. Snoopy lying on a cloud, saying N.O.P.E. not today.
N.O.P.E. is our mantra............Not One Puff Ever.🚭
Decide on a quit date, not too far ahead. Decide how you are going to quit. Using NRT, nicotine replacement therapy,or cold turkey (without any aids). While you are working towards your quit date try to gather as much information as you can. Read the pinned posts 📌etc.
Whichever method you decide is right for you,we will support💪 you all the way.
Another thing is not carrying enough change for cigs. I went out with just enough for a coffee so in the early days I couldn't possibly buy them. I was extra specially careful for about 6 months. These tricks worked for me I'm sure that you can find some that work for you👍👏🚭
This community will make a big difference, I know I wouldn’t be here without it. Lots of good advice already, so I’ll just say stay close, take one day at a time and let’s get you smoke free💕🌻xx
