Hello all,

Currently on day three using patches to quit my cigar habit (10 a day). Patches are definitely helping but still feel quite sick in the stomach.

Anybody else used patches to quit?

Also and general advice would be welcome.

Yours grumpily 🤬🤢

Good morning Jobi and welcome to Quit Support

Well done for making the best decision for your future health and you’re off to a good start.

The patches are very successful and unfortunately grumpiness can be a side effect of quitting.

Remember to drink lots of water to flush out the toxins. Have a look at the pinned posts as plenty of hints and tips there.

The first few days can be difficult but hang in there, keep busy and this will pass.

We’re all here to help one another and that makes a big difference.

Stay calm and carry on🚭🚭 You’ve got this👍🏼xx

Hi Jobi71, Well done for your decision to quit👏 and of course for your 3 smoke free days.

Welcome to Quit Support.💙

It’s never easy to quit but it’s easier with a little support.💪

Personally I have never used patches to quit but watch this space because someone somewhere has.👍🚭

Please read the pinned posts,📌 there is lots of information there. You will find the posts to the right or at the bottom of your screen depending which device you are using.

May I suggest you drink plenty of water💧💦 to flush out the toxins and keep yourself hydrated.

If you feel you need any more help please don’t hesitate to ask. There is always someone here.

For the record your quit date is 24th August 2019? So that we can assign you a winners' badge and update our database.

May I remind you to not post any personal information. If in doubt leave it out!!

Good luck with your quit.🍀🚭xx

Smoking related or just in general? Most of the jokes I remember contain swear words so may be best to leave it alone 🙈

We aren`t fussy on here whether its smoke related or not. As for swearing we tend to put a few ‼✴✴✴ or similar signs in place of the word. In mine and Monkys case we say Flippin! :D xx

Hi Jobi .. 1st off congratulations !! I never thought I would make it 3 days but ( and I can't believe I'm actually typing this figure) I am now 2 YEARS 3 months and 9 days smoke free, after using patches. I still remember the cold sweats all those Thursdays ago, when I was smoking up the last of my pack (save 1) and putting my patch on before bed. The Friday morning my son handed me a coffee and I handed him my ashtray. I haven't had a ciggy in my mouth since, not bad from 35 yrs of smoking 2 packs a day.

The best advice I can give you (the things that worked for me) is walk .. if you feel yourself getting to "that" point .. a wee walk round the block works wonders .. it lets you breathe in fresh air and calm down before going back home lol (there again I could often be found walking behind someone smoking just to breathe the air, but so long as it was in their mouth and not mine it was ok). Also the wee smoking app "smoke free" was a Godsend .. it counts up by the second how long it is since you've smoked. If you concentrate on that timer for a few minutes, the craving will be gone.

Many good wishes for your journey. and remember if you stumble see it as a stumble. Don't go buy a pack, just get right back up and keep going. Good Luck !!

P.S. The (Save 1) ciggy that I kept the night before I quit? I finally snapped it up on my 1st anniversary smoke free. It's still in my drawer mind you, but snapped in two lol
