Hey I started quitting yesterday. Been smoking for many years. My gums hurt and im scared I have gum disease. It's enough incentive to quit since my mom just had to have all her upper teeth removed πŸ˜• is gum disease reversible? Im happy to have joined here, im Sure the road is not easy but Im ready. It's now or never.

Hi πŸ‘‹ Aryia

Welcome and congratulations on quitting.

Sore and bleeding gums is very normal, so don't worry. I had gum disease and it is reversible. I use toothpaste/mouthwash especially for gum disease, it's a bit more expensive but seems to work.

Keep going, any questions just ask the lovely bunch on here, we will help you as much as we can xx

Karen

Thanks so much Karen that's actually a huge relief to hear . It's really freaked me outas I have some abrasions on my gums and they feel very sensitive. My.mom.said the smoke inflames and irritates them. If it gets tough (like a pub night out) i will get an ecig!

Welcome to Quit support Aryia, I am not sure about gum disease being reversible, but I would imagine it could be. When you stop smoking the blood circulates better and therfore

Your gums will be healthier if there is more oxygen etc.

You say you started your quit yesterday, so may i ask are you going cold turkey.

There is plenty of information under our pinned posts and topics, which you may find helpful with your quit.

If you need anything at all , if its to ask a question, to coming on here and screaming , we dont mind.

:) xx

Yes i am going cold turkey as a sort of self development practise to build better self control. I have been building up.the moment to quit for about 2 years now!!! So far so good although I feel on edge. Pressure from college is keeping me plenty busy and lots of tea is definitely helping . Thanks so much for your reply 😊
