Hi my last cigarette was on the 3rd February 2016 ....... I am feeling fine, but hey am I stuffing my face lol...... I have gained 14lb which is not good news, so I feel like I have gone from one addiction to another.... I have just had my cholesterol level checked and its slightly high, so another thing to contend with!! I am no longer craving a cigarette but sometimes still get grumpy and short tempered... so I am still a work in progress... thanks for your support.
CIGARETTES OR FOOD?: Hi my last cigarette was... - Quit Support
CIGARETTES OR FOOD?
Always go with food, food can be conquered when the danger of starting up smoking again has dwindled. Not to put any newbies off but I gained 56lbs in the first 18 months of my quit. I hated being so big but allowed myself time to adjust. Now just shy of 3 years quit I've lost 63lbs, I run regularly, do boot camp 3 times a week and feel great 😊
I think the fear of food and weight gain is probably one of the biggest barriers to people quitting and staying quit but this is a long term game and all comes right in the end.
Good luck 😃
Wow and wow 👍👏
Brilliant achievement, I've not long started cutting out sugary drinks and chocolates, I've lost a fair bit but wish I had your commitment to get exercising but just can't seem to motivate myself maybe now the better weather is coming in it might help me move myself 😀
Xx

I've been off sugar for 3 weeks and I'm back to a good weight again😊
Hope your day is a good one!! xx
I hear you Jaffa, I was the same and it's only now I'm losing some of the weight.
As LilyMay posted the food intake can be sorted once you feel comfortable with your quit.
You're doing great Jaffa, keep going, it does sort itself out 😀
Xx
As the ladies have said Jaffa, the weight is a nightmare .....
but for anyone out there who thinks its a great idea to smoke again to lose the weight.... Think again !!!! It doesnt work like that. I know because that's what I thought last time I quit, I put on two stone & after a year quit I went back smoking to lose the weight... Took me two years and a helluva lot of cig money and now, thankfully, I'm back where I started
Just got to get my mojo back and lose the weight!!
totally agree with LilyMay.....get yourself comfortable with your quit, then you can concentrate on your weight.. I am 22 months quit and weigh considerably less that what i did when i started my quit journey..I walk and walk and keep on walking..I think that is my new addiction😍😍
Jaffa, I'm defo with the Ladies on this one, you eat gal
NOPE, Not One Puff Ever
Foooooooooooood please 🍟🍰🎂🍡🍢🍘🍣🌮🌯🍜🍲🍧🍮🍩🍪 and drink 🍻🍾🍺🍷🍸🍹☕️🍵🍶🍾🍾🍺🍻
I hear you! my newest addition is donuts, but trying to wean myself from that and have sugar free candies instead with xylitol which is actually good for your teeth
Congrats on your 12 week win by the way!! now that spring is almost here I am thinking I would like to make my new addiction fresh fruit smoothies.
I don't own a scale as in the past it has made me obsessive with my weight and leads to other unhealthy habits, but I can feel my clothes tightening so I know I am gaining as well.
one battle at a time, I keep telling myself it's OK if you gain a little weight or a lot can focus on getting that under control once I've gotten my battle with not smoking under control
keep strong!
Hello Jaffa--Yes the eating thing is something--Ive gained 20 total in 5 months--I get so hungry I have to eat RIGHT now--its just crazy--Some days it is a little better--but others im a shark--I think we crave sweets/carbohydrates like any drug addict be it heroin, meth or whatever--but the thing is sugar and carbs are as addictive as any drug--so now we have to get off this--and it isn't easy--I was up snacking 3 times in the night--Im obsessed with getting enough to eat--so it is comfort eating too cuz alas!! we haven't that filthy smoking going on and need something to fill that huge spot it held--I say huge because it is in so many ways--It has effected so many parts of me getting off it--Anyway--Im going to see someone my dr referred me too--Im sure my insurance wont cover it--but gonna try--Im getting uncomfortable and it is making me relearning to breath properly almost impossible--Good luck--let me know how your doing and if you find the magic bullet--so we can lose this extra person we are starting to carry around--MmeT
Congratulations Jaffajuice on your incredible 12 weeks quit👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😊
Don't worry about the weight as our other lovely members have said already. Tackle one thing at a time. If ya can manage to increase your excercise then it'll definitely help. You're doing brilliant, well done hun🚭💐😊
