I have friends coming over tonight to play cards. A few of them smoke. How am I going to get through this night? Any encouraging words would be greatly appreciated. I will be drinking a few.😳

Hi lee I love ur rolling timer. I got an app that does that AND you can text updates to ur friends whenever u want. After a while it really irritates them but they still feel obliged to send suitably encouraging and enthusiastic replies. And that is how u teach them a lesson for smoking when ur not.

I have had people round smoking drinking etc. Smoking right in front of me. For some people alcohol is a trigger as it lowers ur inhibitions so beware of that.

I suppose the way I thought of it was if they choose to smoke it's their business what has it got to do with u and ur choice not to smoke.

For me it doesn't bother me if other people smoke in front of me it makes no difference and if u cave and have one u just have to start all this again.

Don't try to be a hero and gut it out--Its your domain--Be honest about what you are trying to do--It wont hurt them to go outside-smokers are used to that--Don't wilt--This is a tough one--You can also excuse yourself if it gets to be to much--although Id do the first one-Just call this a huge hurdle#1--and when you get thru it you will be a little stronger and know how to handle this stuff better too--This is about you--trying to break a tough addiction..... I would let my friends know I don't smoke anymore and they can not smoke in my house, they can be told in such a way that won't offend them, and hey tell them to join you in not smoking, my husband and I quit almost 3 weeks ago, my brothers stops by watching the football game, I just explained that from no on no smoking in our home it makes no sense for us to stop smoking and let others keep smoking, I trying to have a fresh clean start to 2016, good luck!! you are a great example to them!! you can drink and not smoke, everyone told me to give up coffee it has been my comfort for not smoking when you start thinking of smoking just say it won't last long and I have come to far to turn around!!!!!!

It's gonna be a tricky one Lee! I didn't touch alcohol for six months for fear of giving in to the "oh only when I have a drink" trick of mr Nic!!!! I'd be an alcoholic !!!!!!!! Just remember at how chuffed you will be as you get rid of the fag smell in the morning which will have lingered in the air from yr friends. You could ask them to smoke outside??? The cold weather might make them abstain for a few hours? Either way Lee!! DONT you'll be gutted!!

My hubby still smokes, but having him still smoking made me more determined not to 🙂

I personally think the quicker you jump into these situations the better. It gets them over with and makes you stronger, but again that's just me.

You can do this and think how great you'll feel when you do 👍👍

Hi Lee, when i have friends round who smoke I ask them not to smoke in the house and they'll be happy to help I'm sure. When they come back in you'll be able to smell how bad they stink and this will put you off joining them😩 You can do it and although it's a big test, take time out for a bathroom trip and look in the mirror and say I don't smoke, I'm a non smoker yeah🚭🚭😊 (this is best done in a quiet voice to yourself)😂

I didn't smoke and I made everyone that did go out in the cold to smoke. I didn't even get tempted. It was awesome!! I hate the cold!

Lay your cards on the table so to speak,and tell them straight out if they come over they will have to go outside to take smoke breaks.

If they really are your friends,that shouldn't be a problem,but tell them in advance,it's your house!
