Keep telling yourself that you can do this...Hey...you are doing it :) :) you get better at each new day :) :)

Come on here and use this site as a distraction

if you have any questions just ask

just take it one craving at a time....and you just let ole mr nic know who is the boss at you are taking control of your life :) :)

Good luck and keep us posted :) :) :)

Welcome Kevin and All the best ! 'Can't add much to our lovely Glolin's advice (breathe and breathe again!) .. Having a plan and a good attitude is awfully helpful .. sounds like you already have some NRT aides. Just take it one day at a time .. if it gets rough then just 5 minutes at a time! And try to maintain a sense of humor -- it really helps during the first week, believe me! You're not alone .. keep in touch! (Now, take another deep breath!) -Will

Congrats Kevin πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

The ticket for staying off cigarettes for me is mentally reminding myself why I gave up smoking...... Everyone has their own personal reason...... Some people quit because they have asthma.....COPD..... Spot on their lung .......fear of lung cancer.....some may have had a heart attack or heart surgery..... Some do it for their children.............. My reason is FEAR........ The women in my family who smoke have strokes at young ages....... That in itself is a reason to stay clear of that dangerous disabling habit ...... I don't want the government to kill me in the end .........Monky has a Pinned Post called Friend or Foe.......Give it a read...... It really helps me

Merry ChristmasπŸŽ„

Whoohooo Kevin well done on getting through day one😊😊

I gave up with patches. Always alternate the side of the body you use and try different places, don't always stick to the top of the arm. They can sometimes make you itchπŸ™

I had the 16hr ones so used to take them off at least 30 mins before I went to bed otherwise I would have the weirdest dreams. Also stick one in your wallet, I used to forget to put them on so carried one in my purse. Otherwise it can make you fret and you end up thinking about it all dayπŸ™

The cravings don't last long, about 3mins, so get up and go do something, make a cup of tea😊

You really are doing the very best for your health and wealth. So start saving your cig money and treat yourself to things throughout your quit 😊

Keep this site nice and close and we will support you😊

We say NOPE..... Not One Puff Ever 😊😊😊🚭🚭🚭🚭🚭🚭🚭

WAYYYY HAYYYYY Kevin, great job pal :) I see you've bought your quit date forwards :) that tells me, you really want to quit :) :)

Kevin, if you need help, dont you be afraid, you just come on here a shouting :)

I see you've had lots of great advice already :) :)

Patches - I see our Droopy has given you some great advice :) Like she says, stick them in different places each day :) try to have 7 places, so it will be a week before you repeat a place :) What I did, was draw a matchstick man and put mon, tue, wed, etc in different places so I knew where to stick it that day :D :D They say that they work best on your upper body, but I put then on my thighs and my bum and didnt make any difference to me :o Also Kevin, keeping your next days patch in its sealed bag, put it under your pillow when you go to bed, this will warm it up, so when you come to put it on in the morning, it will be nearer your body temp and start to work faster :)

Quick mist mouth spray - this goes very well with the patches, cos when you get them flippin hard times, it just takes them pangs away :) When ever you use it, shake it first and only one spray, thats all you need :) Now some people get hiccups when they use it :o I did for the first few times, but then they seemed to go :) If they persist, then try spraying it on the back of your hand and licking it of :) or spray it on a clean finger end and just very gently dab it onto your upper gum, do not rub it, cos it could burn a bit :o

Good luck kevin and NOPE allllll the way pal :)

I have been a non smoker for 3 years now after smoking for 50 years. I tried many times to give up since I was diagnosed with COPD 6 years ago. I succeeded this time because I took full advantage of all the aids offerered ie patches, inhalators even used an e cig for a while. The big difference between my success and and past failures was that I didn't have any cigs in the house if I was tempted. In the past I had always had a few cigarettes in the house and eventually I lit up intending to only have a few puffs. I knew this time nobody around me smoked and if I wanted to smoke I would have to go out and buy a pack. The big test came for me 6,months after I stopped when I found a pack in the glove compartment of my car. Thank goodness they were unopened and I quickly threw them in the bin. What also shocked me was how much they had gone up since I bought that pack as the price was on the packet

My COPD was getting to the stage where everything was a struggle. My doctor said the choice is yours " you can either smoke or breathe but you can't do both" since giving I wouldn't say my breathing is any better but it is no worse and I think if I had carried on smoking I would be a lot worse by now. I had my last cigarette in May 2012 . I recently have been in hospital with double pneumonia and made a good recovery but I was amazed at some of the women in my ward. I was In a ward for respiratory problems including lung cancer and at least 3 of the women with lung cancer ( 2 of which were terminal) taking themselves off out of the ward for " some fresh air" . They came back into the ward which was a long way from the door gasping for breath. I was so pleased I wasn't in the grip of the evil weed. One woman refused to stay in hospital overnight for assessment because she couldn't smoke. I had to have a chest X-ray to see if my pneumonia had cleared up and was so relieved last week I got the all clear. The knowledge that no lung cancer was found is like I am being given a new life and I intend to make the most of it
