I gave up smoking about a year ago with the help of ecigs. I've now stopped vaping after experiencing a lot of adverse side effects. I've now been nicotine free for 4 weeks and 3 days. Yes!!!
Reading Allen Carrs Easy Way to Stop Smoking really helped me to stop vaping and I don't conciously desire to vape or smoke tabacco.
But I feel really irritable, angry, my mind is racing alot. I was happy before I stopped but I'm not now.
Will I feel happy again? Just as much as when I was vaping/smoking? How long will it take?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Karl.

Congratulations on over a year quit, great achievement so well done👍🏼
Sorry to hear you're not feeling too good at the moment but you've managed to quit the ecigs as well which is fantastic. Its still a big change for you and given a bit more time I think you'll certainly feel better. Your brain has been so used to the habit that now it's wondering what's going on😳 although your body is free of nicotine, your brain is playing catch up. These feelings will pass and there's a great post about understanding the feel good chemicals on the right under pinned posts. Our motto is NOPE not one puff ever 😊x
Hey thanks! I suppose at the moment I just need to hear that the irritability WILL get better. I will give the post about understanding the feel good chemicals a read.
I've been keeping myself away from people too. But I think it's making it worse being left alone to my own thoughts. Being around patient easy going people cheers me up. I wish their was a support group in my area (like they have for Alcohol etc) Good luck
Hi ya Karl and welcome to our lovely quit support community and a great big well done to you for quitting smoking for about a Year thats just flippin ACE pal If you would be so kind to let me know your quit date, then I can award you with a Winners badge and add you to the Wall of Winners
Rite Karl, down to the nitty gritty
You have vaped for nearly a Year to help you to quit the smokes and you have done just great and am sooo proud of ya BUT, BUT, now you have quit the nicotine altogether you are going through the withdrawal symptoms all over again sooo, its like you've just quit smoking if you see what I mean
Your body and mind are going through a huge change cos I tell ya Karl, nicotine is a powerful drug !! and it can take a few months to get rid of it, so please stand firm and flippin fight it We are all made differently Karl, so it just takes some of us longer to reap the benefits of quitting but I assure you, you will be happy again just please be patient
Take care Pete
Me too .... I'm at close to 4 weeks (yeah!) and although (gratefully) the urge to smoke is less frequent ... I'm experiencing a pretty consistent depression ,--- not just a "bad mood", but a physical thing that is dragging me down. Having been treated for major depression in the past helps me to recognize that this current episode is from nicotine'withdrawal. P.S>: the aforementioned pinned posts are really helpful -=AND all newcomers (like me) should check them out!!! BTW: I highly recommend quitting with medical advise if you have any behavioral health or addiction history.
I know that I am not alone .. THANKS EVERYBODY! - and also my faith helps tremendously. Karl, (ET. AL.) this is a great support group -- Stick around! All the Best to All of you and especially Jilly. -Will
Congratulations on your quit to date Fantastic effort.
Hang in there as it will get better your brain and body is going through a massive amount of adjusting and it would be as irritated as you are feeling as its not get its nicotine hit
If it helps..I have a sense of calmness within myself that i never had as a smoker. Its hard to explain but I am loving it
'This misconception that having a ciggie will make it all better is such a crock of S**t
Try and change your thinking to feeling very proud of yourself for going nicotine free and how in a short time you will truly be reaping the benefits of being a non smoker
