White Teeth

3 weeks smoke free today. Thing I have noticed the most this week is how white my teeth are. Actually whiter than after polishing by the dentist has been for the last 35+ years. Can hardly wait for my dentist appointment in July, I am sure the Dental Hygienist will think she is working on the wrong mouth.

I'm sure that she will. I was at the dentist on the 2nd day of my quit, had the usual clean and polish hopefully by my next appointment my teeth will be lovely and white, and my breath lovely and fresh. Congratulations on being 3 weeks smoke free and feeling proud.

My gums have never bleed, but the first day they felt like they were on fire (that's how I found this web site). Even now my throat and gums feel like they are on fire some days, but it is not strep-throat, just healing from all the years of smoking (3 months short of 45 years). Lot's of rinsing with Hydrogen Peroxide, and drinking lots of water. I am keeping the faith that this will all be worth while in the end, as I know if I lit a cigarette all these symptoms would go away, but which is worse, a little coughing, lots of rinsing, and lots of water in the short term, or always being short of breath and having difficulty breathing in the long run??? Yes, just keeping the faith and remembering N.O.P.E. Here is to a smoke free day to you.

But have you got a pink tongue too? :)

(Some months ago there was discussion here that, after giving up smoking, one's tongue is definitely pinker!)

Yes I'm getting a pink tongue, and whiter teeth, no bleeding gums but I have been using the little dental brushes for a while as I had started to have bleeding gums a few months back. All good changes going on that if I still smoked I would have to spend a fortune 💰💰💰 to accomplish. ☺☺
