Crikey,it feels weird just typing that but there you go,Hel has got to nearly 10 months.I can still remember having that quit chart on my kitchen wall and marking off the days up to 28 and being well pleased with myself that I'd got that far.
To be really honest I saw the price of 20 cigs in the local shop recently and nearly dropped, one brand was £7.35 or something like that. So,maybe for you newbies a thought to ponder,If someone in the street came up to you and asked for £7.35 and told you that they'd do the same thing every day for the foreseeable future & that the money would go towards a hacking cough, wrinkly skin, shortness of breath and a shortened lifespan all just for you, what would you say?? I know what I'd say but that's what we've all been doing thinking it made us feel good, stopped us being hungry so kept us thin (I never had that problem sadly!!) made us part of our peer group or whatever, just total lunacy really.
So,if you're just starting your journey or maybe starting your journey over, just absolutely know that it is all worth it,you're cravings will get better over time (patience and willpower are key here) & that in 10 months time you'll be posting something very similar to this and thinking 'where did that time go'
Hang on in there all, stick close to everyone on here(safety in numbers, there's always someone on here who knows how hard it is & just what you're going through)and good luck, not that you'll need it coz you got this sorted!!
Hugs
Helen

Congratulations and thank you for a lovely post as well Helen, "safety in numbers" I like that 10 months is a huge achievement and that spurs us all on to follow your example, well done and definitely an enormous hug heading your way x
Aw Helen I love your logic ☺️ and a massive well done xxx
Well done Helen, it's a fantastic feeling isn't it and you are so right, we wouldn't pay out money to have someone make us feel rubbish, that's a great way to think of it
Ditto to all the comments above, you have always offered fantastic support to all our members and as Ray says, you always give fabulous examples relating to the advice you share
I seem to have missed one of your badges out sorry, please enjoy this new one for a couple of days before wearing your next
I really just want to try and help as many folk as possible get to where I am now regardless of badges and stuff (badges are GOOD tho!!)Not pretending it's easy at all, I still have the very occassional day when I stand next to someone who'se smoking and think mmmmmm, but mostly I just think MUG!!!I have no intentions of going back now. I wish I'd done it sooner and I also wish that those just starting out could realise that those awful first few weeks are just that, the first few weeks that absolutely will get better as those horrible cravings start to loose their hold and although at the time you can't imagine living a life without your beloved cigs it is totally possible, all you need to do is to want to do it more than anything else. I see my consultant on the 24th and I'm pretty sure he'll maybe think I've gone back to the dark side, it'll be good to say I haven't.
I couldn't have done ANY of this without the support of EVERYONE on here so my victory over the cigs is also yours.
