Can I rant here? It's not directly related to quitting smoking but the need to go to the shops to buy some is getting more and more

Don't go to the shops! Whatever you want to rant about, a cig is not going to fix it (you know that). You nicotine demon is trying to trick you. Eat something especially fattening if you want to punish yourself .... You know it makes sense.

Last time I saw my dietitian he said that cheating on the diet would be the same as cheating on the quitting smoking

I struggled with watching my weight and quitting at the same time, it felt like too much pressure so I put my diet on hold. Can you up the exercising to compensate?

Rainbowlilybet profile image

I'm too lazy to exercise! I think I've done pretty well so one night of excess pasta won't hurt hopefully!

Hehe no one bad meal won't do any damage at all! xxx

I am not even thinking about my weight at the moment. I ain't strong enough to do both! X

Do not do it. It's that simple :) just choose to not put your shoes on and go. You don't need them..... And deep down you know it. It's just stupid mind games. And look how far you have come, don't undo all that hard work.... And more importantly you don't want your cat inhaling all that crap :(

Stay strong. Has something happened to make you feel like this? X

I've never smoked in front of Maia. I always had to go out to the back garden to smoke.

Ellie,Take a deep breath, calm down & think of what you'll be chucking away (your fantastic quit of 5 weeks or so) Why do you want to go to the shop,it's freezing outside! What's happened to make you feel like this? Please please don't buy cigs,it's just your brain playing nasty tricks and you can defeat it.Do you're visualisation or deep breathing exercises. The craving will go again in a few minutes you know it will. You're bigger and better than any craving Ellie, let me know how you're doing.

Thanks Hun, it's 8 weeks tomorrow which seems unreal. I have had the day from hell. After being abusive to me for years, my husband, while I was in hospital. Announced he wanted me gone. Then realised that I went so did my money and wanted to talk. But now I'm safe from him I refused to tell him my address

Then today, the NHS sent me a letter outlining my next care meeting next week! and it appears they sent one to him too. And the letter he got would have had my address on it. And a hint of what's going on in my medical life

I'm so annoyed and wanting to scream and smoke and drink

Pinkiezoom profile image

Oh Ellie Hun, what a nightmare. Like Helen says you need to approach the people who sent that letter! Looks to me like you have great inner strength to walk away from him so don't forget that x

Ellie,

You need to contact whoever sent you that letter and tell them that you are now worried for your safety as hubby now has your address. Did you give them permission to release your medical records to him ? If not, then they've tripped themselves up quite badly. If it looks like he's going to turn up at your home then phone the police immediately, there must be something they can do.I'm quite cross with your dietician, how can he compare smoking with dieting? NOT the same thing at all, sorry but it if you want chocolate or a biscuit then have it.Better than smoking or drinking, and yep,I know you have to show commitment to your Weight loss programme but a bit of chocolate or a couple of biscuits does not a binge make. Don't deprive yourself of everything at once, that way lies disaster.Hugs heading your way flower.Helen x

I spoke to my community nurse today and she phone the woman who wrote and sent the letter. She was horrified at the mistake. It seems that my nurse and her had discussed the content and reciprocates of the letter over the phone. I have the choice to make a formal complaint but I think they have learned their lesson and will email rather than phone in the future and proof before they go.

I'm away to cook a big pot of spaghetti bolognese. Screw the diet. It's my comfort food.

And although he probaby will turn up, I don't think I'm in danger. Knowing him he'll try do the nicely nicely approach. That's if I even open my door

Ellie, you come and rant & rave gal, cos it helps to get mr nic or whatever out of your system eh :) :)

To be honest Ellie, I would put your diet on hold for a bit, get RID of mr nic first :) and when you've done that gal, you will have the power inside you to do anything :)

Xhubby, you know him better than we do gal, but you take care now :)

It's terrible it really is., I did go to the shop every day and bought a little treat for myself the joy of a small strawberry ice cream or a nice hand wash that sort of stuff I looked away from the fags! Funnily enough I haven't bought a lottery ticket since I stopped cos they're often in the same place! Keep going hun you will begin to feel better but it is b......dy hard.xx
