I have been stopped for just over a year now. I did it cold turkey and could not have done it without the help and support of all the lovely people on here. :) I started about age 13 (now 56) and was on about 25 a day. Had lots of ups and downs but survived them. Still miss them at times but always told myself that I now choose not to smoke. :)

I think you should be a bit careful with the champix cos quite a few who have used it have not kept up with the quit so maybe consider using something else at a later date. The main thing at the moment is that it's educating you to not do the actions and therefore changing your habits.

8 days is just brilliant, I think you are feeling really proud of yourself. :)

Big welcome and a well done! Dude1976. You will find lots of help and advice on here. I used a inhalator to help me stop. Like Andi I have been stopped for over a year.

Stay positive you can do it. :)

U had been smoking a long time I am now 37 so have not been smoking as long as u but feels enough. Reason I decided to stop my kids I want to grow old with them and see my grandchildren grow up and have fun. I know these tablets r helping me but I have had no cravings since taking them but I know that I will stop after these have finished and yes I am feeling proud of my self but I just need to keep it going thanks for talking it is really helping

Hi Dude, well done on the 8 days

I am using Champix too and it worries me that the cravings will return once i stop taking them, but remember........

You are weaned off them

You have broken a lot of the smoking 'habits' -after morning coffee, driving etc

You still have kids/grandkids to think about!

I have not been going to a councillor -the local one is about 12 and patronising which just annoys me! Lol - if you haven't, please consider it as they are usually very good and help a lot I think they keep you on them long enough after your quit date for the nasty little nic receptors to die

Either way, every day without is a good day, keep it up :0)

Hi yes I have to see doctor a day after my tablets have run out so I will see how easy it is not to smoke without them but I only get cravings for a couple of seconds through the day. Never thought I would go on sites like this but it is a big help and everyone is so friendly and helpfull it's cool And good because people like u and all the others know what is like and what we r going through I can speak to my partner and she is great but she does not smoke and never has so she does not know what it is like smoke
