Prucalopride & Pelvic floor pain

Hi

I have been suffering from rectal & pelvic floor pain for last 18 months. 2 months ago I was placed on Prucalopride as the magnesium citrate they I was taking stopped working. My pelvic floor pain & rectal spasm appears to be getting worse. I used to be able to sleep at night but now struggling. Has anyone else noticed this? Are they connected? Do I need to adjust anything whilst taking Prucalopride?

I don’t have constipation. Is that why you were out on Pucalopride? Did your doctor tell you it would stop muscle spasms?

Have you tried Magnesium glycinate ? It’s the most easily absorbed magnesium for the human body. Passionflower tablets help pain and spasms to.

I hope your sleep improves.

Hi, yes I do have constipation which is why I am on Prucalopride. No mention made of impact on spasms but have noticed that since I started taking it the pelvic floor spasms have got worse. Wondered if there was a connection

I got terribly unwell on prucalopride - twice they made me try it for slow transit. Both times severe headache with flu-like symptoms and numb swollen face and lips 24/7. I’ve finally got it acknowledged as an adverse reaction. I take picolax syrup , Linaclotide and domperidone (Gastroparesis) and use Peristeen plus once daily. It’s a huge burden but no side effects apart from fecal incontinence so have to plan accordingly. I’ve begged for illeostomy but so far surgeon feels risks too high for me.

Thanks for replying. Looks like they are not for me with. Caused loads of spasms and made stool so soft it was impossible to evacuate
