Decapeptyl injections for fibroids

Hi I am new to this- I have a large uterine fibroid that has caused me hell for the past three years, pain and extreme heavy bleeding, anemia etc tried lots of birth control but none help. Been given decapeptyl injections last week 11th jan to shrink them for a less invasive surgery - I was on norithsterone before so came off that to start the injections and new I would have a withdrawal bleed. It’s been lasting for 11 days and now is getting very heavy. Waiting to hear back from the gynae and find it ridiculous when i can’t talk to the very person who has initiated these injections to know if what you are experiencing is normal even though my gut is telling me it isn’t…. I was hospitalised last year and got two blood transfusions (was on the mini pill at the time which made my already bad situation even worse!) so fed up at having to push to get seen or heard.. I know they are dealing with a lot of patients but to have this for three years and for it to not be resolved and actually worse is really disappointing. Sorry for ranting. Has anyone else had these injections for fibroids and experienced the same? My symptoms did flare to start with which I was told they would. Wanting these periods to stop and wish they would just operate now rather than later but think the ere are risks with that because it’s so big 😣

Hya I totally feel your pain.My fibroid is 9cm x 8 x 5. I just started on prostap injections 29th Dec.

Am getting sterilised next week and am waiting for uterine embolization. I was offered hysterectomy I refused and discussed myectomy but consultant said it would end in a hysterectomy because of size.

I've hemoraged earlier this year had 5 blood rransfusions. Am taking 6 transemic acid a day plus injection and ive just bled for 9 days.

What surgery are you awaiting? Xx

Hi 💕oh my I can’t believe you have bled as much as that with the injection and also the tranexamic acid 😥that’s a shame and hats off to you going through all this, I have quite bad anxiety now because of the bleeding and that was never me. I think there needs to be faster treatment that resolves these issues for women different gynae problems. I have bled for 14 days now - it’s light but with randomly get heavy and it’s just stressful. My gynae told me that mine could end up in hysterectomy as well if they operated now but tbh I’m tempted as I want all this to end which prob sounds insane. I have to get a myomectomy but they wanted to shrink it first for an easier surgery and quicker recovery time for me. I get why they are doing it but I wish it had been removed years ago instead of all the messing around with birth control pills. Have you been anemic as well and if so are u on the iron tablets? Xxx

Hya I know dont it's awful isn't it.I am severely anemic yes I'm on 3 ferrous sulphate a date and theve spoke about iron infusions. After the 5 blood transfusions they said they don't want to give me anymore so just pumped full of iron instead lol.

Have you had children. I'm not gonan lie I'd have the hysterectomy aswell but it's the recovery time and I honestly feel after losing so much blood and risk of hemoraging in surgery I worry my body wouldn't be strong enough. Am funnily enough at my pre op now for steralization waiting to hear for me uterine fibroid embolization. Has been marked as urgent tho, are you uk based? Xx

Hi 🥰sorry for the late reply, yeah I am in the uk, Scotland. I have also worried about hysterectomy and the operation and losing blood etc.. I just know I want this over with I’m so fed up with it. That’s so good you are marked as urgent and will get treatment soon, I’ve heard that the UFis meant to be really good ! Where are you from? Xxx
