Fibroids

46 , Female, I recently had a TV scan for heavy periods and Pain. I was diagnosed with a large fibroid and they mentioned endometriosis. The Dr has referred me to gynaecology. Can anyone tell me what the next steps will be ?Thank you .

It depends on your Dr’s knowledge . In re the endometriosis, some surgeons will not have any skills other than hysterectomy. Some surgeons are able to do endometriosis surgery even for advanced stage. Or they might suggest to try hormone modification treatments. As for the fibroids they can be surgically removed.

hi steph , i also had the same in jan last year , multiple large ones , i was advised to have the prostap injection which can shrink them, i did this option it took 6 months. I then had a hysterectomy in oct this year , managed to keep my right ovaries !

they managed to do key hole rather than a cut across my stomach ,

i still feel bloated and full all the time , i have a appolintment today for acheck up.

i feel no one explains emnough what is happening and what side effects are etc..

i ended up going private as i couldnt wait for nhs

hopefully they will suggest the injection for you also and it will work .

I’m sure they will. It’s such a worry isn’t it. As no one tells you about these things. Ask about having the injection. It will put you in early menopause though xx 😘
