Rectocele and colonoscopy. I'm having a colonoscopy in 11 days. I explained to the hospital nurse that I have a bowel prolapse and was assured that it's ok. I'm still a bit concerned. Anyone else experienced this? If so, how was it? Thanks!

Hi, I have a stage 3 prolapse, and have had a colonoscopy. The prolapse caused no problems. I'm sure it will be ok. Good luck.

It went really well, it was good to know that I wasn't the only one. Thanks again.

Hi, I have also had a colonoscopy with a rectocel. It caused no issues at all. In fact, the amount of laxatives you have to take to empty your bowel in preparation, actually made it a lot more comfortable for a few days. Please dont worry.

Good luck with your colonoscopy. I have a rectocele and other bowel prolapse issues and have had 2 colonoscopies with no issues. I also found the bowel prep helped my issues. However make sure you get sedation for the colonoscopy.

Thanks for your reply, it's reassuring to know that your experiences were fine. Glad that I have opted for sedation!

The sedation was certainly relaxing and the whole experience very easy. Thanks again for your advice.

I had a colonoscopy at the beginning of the year my advice is don’t have it without sedation. I had only gas and air and it was a horrendous experience. I won’t be having another without sedation.

Thanks Indianajones. I had sedation. I suppose I slept through it because it was easy. If ever you have another colonoscopy follow your own wise advice!
