Hey guys, i was on amitriptyline for pelvic muscle tension and vulvodynia for 2 years . as recently i was pain free i started to reduce 20Mg to 10 mg in october 2020 and then i stopped it after few weeks. Then i had botox injection to my pelvic floor, 2 weeks after stopping it as i thiught botox is the last remedy.

All my pain cane back after botox. Today i saw a PT and after she checked my pelvic muscles and connected me to biofeedback device , she realised that there is no spasm or anything unusual and she thinks these pain are not related to botox but is related to stopping amitriptyline.

Has anyone had pain coming back after stopping amitriptyline for pelvic pain

You may have been pain free because your amitryptiline was working, coming off medication your pain could have been more noticeable.I have had botox into pelvic floor a few times and each time it took about 6/8 wks for pain in injection sites to calm down.

I found injections and pelvic floor physio combined really helped alleviate spasms and intensity of pain.

Hope you find a treatment that works for you.

Thanks for your help. I actually had biofeedback physio session for 2 years and that was such a miracle and my whole pain went away, thats how i decided to stop amitriptyline but apparently i should have not stopped it.

But tbh for the last 2 months that i came off from it, i was more fresh. I dont like the fact that it makes me feel sleepy as i go work every morning and i need to be fresh.

I find Timing is key with amitryptiline. If I take my dosage at same time every night (8pm) I'm good for starting work in the morning. Also playing about with the dosage to find what works for the pain and not left feeling tired in the morning helps a lot. Good luck.

Hi, I have been diagnosed with vulvodynia and I've been taking amitriptyline 10mg. I can cope during the day as long as I don't stay on my feet for hours as I can feel it more. The problem is at night when I wake in the early hours and the pain is worse. Struggle to get to sleep again.does anyone else relate to this problem.

I was diagnosed with H.Pylori on the 6th of January and was prescribed Amitriptyline prior to this because of pain. I have since had a double course of antibiotics over a week and have now finished the prescription . I asked the nurse if l could stop taking the Amitriptyline because they had now diagnosed and treated the problem so l stopped. However l now have hearing loss in my right ear for the last 6 days, so last night l took Amitriptyline to try and help me sleep which it did, but l don't like how it makes me feel, but it does work. I have been putting drops in my ear for the last 4 days but no improvement. l was thinking that it was just a build up of wax, but now think l may have an infection l have an appointment with the nurse again today. I am waiting on an ultrasound in the next 3-4weeks because a blood test says l have inflammation. I have been feeling unwell since last year and was diagnosed with Acid Reflux and lBS. In November of 2019 l was told l had a couple of fibroids and was wondering if these may be causing the problem. Hopefully l will know more once l have the ultrasound.

I'm surprised you didn't get any withdrawals from amitriptyline because you're supposed to taper off slowly

I was only taking one at night and the nurse told me that they are not addictive and l can stop and start as needed. I have started taking them again because of pain and not being able to sleep. I have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow for a scan, but last time l went they told me it was fibroids and l was peri menopausal and that the fibroids were too small to cause the symptoms that l was experiencing.

It takes a while for the botox to kick in... up to two months I have heard but the amitriptyline is used as pain medication and it could be that however it could be the botox...Difficult to say what came first the chicken or the egg you know what I mean? Soon know if the botox worked or not though

Hi I was initially diagnosed with vulvodynia and then what they thought is pudendal neuropathy I have been taking Amitriptyline for over 3 years and have been starting to think it not really working anymore and always wanted to come off tablets anyway and have been looking at more homeopathic treatments... Dr just kept telling me to up my doseage. I too have recently changed from 25mg to 10 mg but last few days my whole nerve pain with certain triggers has been so bad... do you feel the Botox worked? Is good?
