Baclofen for pelvic pain

Hi has anyone been prescribed Baclofen for their pelvic pain, if you have did it help in any way. I have been prescribed this by my doctor however I am a bit anti towards to many chemicals, I am already tacking Amitriptyline 2 x 10mg at night and do not think they are of any noticeable benefit.

My understanding is that the Baclofen is supposed to help with muscle tension in the pelvic floor.

Don’t take Baclophen when you go to sleep or mix with Tylenol

A doctor at the Kessler Institute prescribed this no less to help with pain at night which should help with sleep me said

Chronic insomnia which it is known for.

Idiot!

drugs.com/drug-interactions...

With the insomnia, upset stomach and therefor really didn’t help with pain since sleep helped the most with pain

Good luck!

I take Baclofen at bedtime in a combination suppository .

I actually cut it in half at bedtime.

I have rectal pain and wherever I pee, those muscles get squeezed and hurt! . I just wanted to add that Baclofen doesn’t generally keep you awake because it’s a relaxer. As always we are all different.

Do you mind if I ask what they said the rectal pain was is there a diagnosis ? I have been dealing with it for about a year and my pelvic floor physical therapist who was really help me said it's pelvic floor dysfunction although I think there's some nerve involvement and I was wondering if it hurt you after you have a bowel movement and what meds you are on and what you've tried...mine flares up and then settles down and flares up and settles down again it's crazy

Actually baclofen is a muscle relaxer I believe which would then help you sleep.. I take cyclobenzaprine which is also a muscle relaxer and it's really helped me a lot

I just asked my Dr for a script for it. Right now the thing that works the best of .25 mg Xanax every 4 hours. I just don’t like being dependent upon it. I’m hoping the bachlofen pill may do just as good a job without making me too groggy to function

Try it in a suppository.

I have used it compounded with

Valium as a combination .

Gave me relief when lying down to relax watching tv. It relaxes the spasmed anal rectal muscles.

.. I have had to up the amount recently ... not Sure how far up you can go on baclofen /Valium suppository doses.. If someone knows how high you can dose these please reply.

. I am trying out a higher dose now but not sure yet how it’s working. It helps if you have a pain Doctor Who understands pelvic pain

and how to relieve the pain.

I am still looking for a savvy pain management doctor in New Jersey. Mine is good but I need someone more knowledgeable. If anyone in New Jersey has any recommendations for Doctors I would love to hear about

it !

thank you and good luck!

For the suppository I meant Baclofen and Valium

I used to take Xanax once in a while for relaxing but because it’s a benzo drug my Doctor Who prescribed it suddenly refused to.! The suppositories that I described above are in the same class of drug . I’m trying to get Xanax it again as I need to calm down. I had only a .25mg dose as well. When you take it four times a day does it make you feel better? and what type of pain do you have?. Thanks.

If it helps I may try that instead.

I did not get groggy when I took it but we are all different and I didn’t take it as often..

Hi

I'll currently taking 25mg amitriptyline and 10mg baclofen at night. Not sure if the baclofen helps with the muscle spasm or not to be honest. The medication helps me sleep though. Does anyone else take amitriptyline and baclofen together and if so what dose?

I'm taking 25mg amitriptyline and 60 mg baclofen every night. Along with 5mg Ambien, I sleep well, but I don't know if the baclofen is helping with the pain or not, and to what degree it helps with sleep. I use the baclofen to address a certain kind of pain. For men in REM sleep, blood flow causes erections when we don't even know it, and that can be painful for men with pn, so the baclofen relaxes the body, preventing that from happening. I was waking up in pain during REM sleep because of this, so thank goodness for baclofen! There, now all of you have learned something about the male anatomy I'll bet you didn't know!

sorry about the delay in getting back. Was in a bad car accident and now I get to manage upper back pain (two compression fractures in thoracic area) in addition to my lower pn back pain! I have been diagnosed with pn - about 4 years ago - and have really only tried pt, which didn't help at all, cryoablation, which also didn't help, and meds to take the edge off. Have had pn for almost 6 years, and it came from a hernia surgery I had that fired the nerve up.

I take two ten mg. Bacolfen every night for help with peripheral neuropathy and muscle pain. It does help me with those issues. I don’t think it really helped with pelvic/rectal pain. Watching my diet and sleeping with a pillow between my knees every night, has helped me more than anything with those issues.

Hope you feel better in 2020.

I am prescribed baclofen in a suppository combined with Valium and ketamine. I also use a topical compounded cream that contains amitriptyline/baclofen/gabapentin (I was originally using the cream with plain Valium suppositories and was later prescribed the combo suppositories, which the doctor and pharmacist verified the total amount of baclofen was safe). I cannot say specifically if the baclofen alone is helpful but the combo with amitriptyline (prior to adding gabapentin as the pain worsened) definitely helped to relax the pelvic floor.

I could not tolerate even a low dose of oral amitriptyline, which is why my doctor offered the topical cream. My pelvic pain is off the charts currently so this combo of meds helps me. I am also not a fan of prescription drugs, but sometimes we have no choice when the pain is insufferable.

As others stated, baclofen is a muscle relaxer, so hopefully it will give you the desired results of relaxing your pelvic floor. Everyone tolerates these medications differently but definitely worth a try.
