Hi 👋🏻 Everyone. I have had a very draining and exhausting journey since age 12! I do need advice on how you all cope. I’m now 30 and me and my husband been trying for a baby for 7 years (almost gone for IVF but it’s a story for another time). In the mean I have had tests and GP app, A&E and list goes on. Today I got a response that I have a Fibroid but it’s not so big and that my 2 options is to go on heavy strong meds for the pain or the pill 💊. I do believe in miracles and the pill is not an option. However I do suffer from extreme pain since I first started my period and always had to be collected from school, (sometimes I pass out due to the pain), the pain sometimes goes up to 5days of my period, I get bleeds in between periods, mostly have size of golf ball blood clots and I’m tired all the time! I feel bit embarrassed as I work at a GP surgery and monthly I need to call in sick as the pain unbearable but if mine so small I’m worried that my employer (which is a GP) going to say it’s not so bad and I might get in trouble for calling in sick. How do u all do it with ur work? My gp said if my employer wants to have some proof to email them. What advice can u give me? I feel that this can not be it! There must be more I can do?! I think you should have surgery to get it removed . The bleeding in between period I have been told is bad and that could affect you not being able to get pregnant. I have been trying and I knew I had fibroids but was told five years ago it was small and it won’t do any harm . I haven’t been pregnant and I moved to the West Midlands and when I saw the consultant here I was told the bleeding in between periods is not a good sign and I should have had the surgery years ago . Again London drs told me I don’t need surgery but five years on fibroids are bigger and many. I would suggest you have surgery to remove it and get pregnant easily

I would ask for a referral to your occupational health team and I would be asking them if your condition could be considered under the Equality act. If the answer to this question is yes then your employer would need to make reasonable adjustments to its sickness policy for you.
