My fibroids are multiple and huge and painful. They put me on Esyma and recently told me to stop as it’s dangerous. Previously was on Prostrop which gave me horrible meneopause symptoms. Have also had Depo injection I a vein hope to curb heavy periods , but it made them worse
Van anyone help? My belly is size of full term pregnant woman and I’ve not slept for months . Thanks guys/gals

Yes unfortunately it looks as though Esmya has had their licence suspended indefinitely as it has been associated with some very serious side effects which are necessarily reversible on stopping the treatment. There are two options that I can initially think of. Firstly retry prostap but use Livial which is an HRT drug. I’ve been on prostap myself for endometriosis and adenomyosis and it did nothing. If that doesn’t work try using zoladex. I’m on this with livial and it’s helped me a lot. I’m on it long term but mainly because I’ve run out of all treatment options for the severe adenomyosis- I’ve failed all treatments rather than not wanting to try them all and my consultant hasn’t wanted to do a hysterectomy as it won’t help the endometriosis. For fibroids long term treatment is unlikely to Be offered with either prostap or zoladex.
The other option is for surgery. There is a hysterectomy if the fibroids are large and removal from the uterus isn’t possible or there is a myomectomy where the fibroids are removed and leave the uterus in place. Other options include using prostap or zoladex for 3-6 months to shrink the fibroids if they are found to be large on an ultrasound before having surgery. There are other types of surgery which embolises the fibroids which essentially cuts off the blood supply to them so they shrink and die Not everyone will be a candidate for all of these and it maybe that once medical treatments have been tried and failed then surgery is the only option left. If the uterus is to be kept as with all gynae surgery there is always the risk that the original surgery will have to be abandoned and reverted to a hysterectomy. This doesn’t usually happen but sometimes severe bleeding which can’t be stopped is encountered and to save the patients life a hysterectomy is the only option sadly. This would also usually happen in the rare occasion cancer is found where the surgeon has to make the decision to save the patients life especially if it’s an aggressive type. If this is something that the surgeon believes might be found all be it rare they will usually get your consent to act in your best interest during the surgery. This was something that happened to my endometriosis specialist who was carrying out a laparoscopy on someone with suspected endometriosis which she removed but found an extremely rare form of ovarian cancer. As this isn’t something that is expected during endometriosis surgery the patient hasn’t consented first a hysterectomy but had consented for removal of the tumour. She later had a full hysterectomy, required no further treatment but last year celebrated her 5 year anniversary of being cancer free. This is an extremely rare occurrence so please don’t be alarmed. Hey how awful ! I’m a medical student / researcher & have been studying these type of health issues for over eight years . Have you taken a pregnancy test ? Might sound strange but please please do . Do you ever feel any strange movement? Have you ever been pregnant before ? Why can’t you sleep? Is it because you are having back pain & cramps like labor pains? Drs have few if any answers for fibroids this large . It’s disgusting . Hence my profile name . 😉
