Great pain killer

Not really a question but I've discovered AZO pain killer really works for urinary pain etc. within 20mminutes feel so much better. Not a cure of course but what a relief ! Doctor has me on 25mg nitrofurantoin for a month. The colour of my urine when taking AZO is bright red/orange. Doesnt interfere with Nitro. seemingly. I've had years of discomfort and pain in nether regions absolutely no help from doctor(s). Anyway just thought I'd try and help those in pain at least walking is easier now.

I’m in the uk, can you explain what is AZO?

Hi Nessie50

I found it on the internet I think it comes from the USA its for urinary pain. Its a analgesic active ingredient Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride. They advise telling your doctor you are taking it. I only take it if I feel sore and not as instructed 2 three times a day. I just take two when needed. I'm on Nitrofurantin prescribed by the doctor for severe cystitis ongoig for years. This drug seems to relax the muscles when urinating but I also find it helps with pain in my hips (arthritis) when walking so great when nothing else works. I tried paracetamol and proxen but no difference but yes within 20 minutes so comfortable although it turns your urine a bright red colour. You can get it on Amazon and E-bay.

Interesting, I looked this product up and didn’t find one that just said pain killer. Which product did you use specifically. I too have vaginal/bladder burning snd pressure sensations with urgency issues from time to time. Been in Pelvic floor therapy for a year now. It’s helped a lot but I definitely have flare ups but at least the pain is not constant anymore. Thank you in advance.

Hi Arisaema

Its the blue packet "urinary pain releif" value size releives pain burning and urgency target the source of pain. 30 tablets. There seems to be others too with cranberry etc.

Anyway I find it helps despite the bright orange/red coloured urine.

I also for a short time went to physio for weak pelvic floor which I did not have it turns out afterall think the doctor just send everyone there. Gynacologist said mine was fine and i didnt have a prolapse either. So just really bad cystitis I think.

Hi, yes, I found AZO was great for bladder pain too. I'd been suffering for months with cystitis and infections. I bought it on Amazon, as it's not a UK thing. Freaked out about how bright my wee was at first, and it stained wherever it hit lol. But was a great relief!

Yes its still working for me managed to walk 4 miles today comfortably without need to feel like I needed to pee. I only take AZO when I need to, today only 2 pills this morning. The doctor put me on a months Nitrofurantoin antibiotic to try and clear cystitus which I might have. I think the AZO relaxes muscles in the pelvis too. When I have difficulty urinating I find rocking back and forth also helps counting up to 20 times seems to lessen the pain and helps me start urinating. Wish I could discover what's really wrong have asked to see a urinologist but not offered yet.

Tried Proxen too but doesn't work as well as AZO. Its important to drink plenty water with drug and take with food as advised. Someone said they got headaches with it but maybe didnt drink a glass of water with it.
