I had trigger point injections and a pedundal nerve block 2 days ago. My pain has been gradually getting worse since. Is it normal to flare really bad? I have alot of pain and like this pressure feeling. I hope I didnt worsen anything. :(

I was wondering what they gave you the trigger point injections in the pudendal nerve block for I assume you have pudendal neuralgia or pudendal entrapment and perhaps pelvic floor dysfunction so I can only speak to myself that I've had other for dysfunction for about a year and I have spoken to other people have had these things and there seems to be often a flare up after the injections, nerve block and or the botox...I strongly recommend that you read a headache in the pelvis which has really helped me ...I got it from the library actually because I didn't know if it could be any use to me and I didn't want to buy it but I found it profoundly helpful.. I have myself not done any injections or blocks ...I have just done the breathing stretching pelvic floor physical therapist and muscle relaxants sometimes Valium suppositories which have all led to me being about 70% better... Hope this was of some help

I agree with you completely about the book, Headache in the Pelvis. It’s a bit wordy, but it speaks to me and I feel better mentally since reading it. I just reserved another book called, Pelvic Pain Explained from our local library. I’m hoping to learn even more from that one.

I’m so happy to hear you’re doing better. I’m finding that I occasionally have a good day and that parts of every day are okay. BMs always stir up the rectal pain, otherwise I’m not that bad. I’ve named my pain, Bert, and I’m learning to cope with it day by day. It’s definitely better than it was months ago.

Oh good...I have the three books the two you talked about and also heal pelvic pain but headache in the pelvis has been most helpful for me....did you try the valium with lidocaine suppositories or think about the Botox?I had a small pain flare after a bowel movement yesterday so I will do my trigger points with the wand today

I haven’t had any treatment or used any medication lately. The suppositories I used over the summer didn’t help much. The Headache in the Pelvis book makes it sound like Injections don’t really help. I’m trying to be more aware of my pelvis and spend time sitting quietly every day, focusing on relaxing it fully. It seems to help. I realize now that I’ve been holding tension in my pelvis for a very long time. This didn’t happen overnight like I originally thought. There was a tipping point or trigger and it started hurting. I understand it will take a long time to feel better, but it is very slowly getting better.

Yes... The headache in the pelvis says about 2 years and I believe it because mine's about 10 months now and it's kind of like a roller coaster ride it's fine for a week or two and then a pain flare up and it's fine and then a pain flare up

I know I have been holding tension in my pelvis for a long time too.... I had a lot of stressful events in a matter of a few years and I think that's when it started over 10 years ago .... your pelvic muscles are used to being in that position now and we're trying to retrain them back to relaxed State it's going to take a long time as you said...I wore a rubber band on my wrist to remind me todo the pelvic drop and relax all my muscles at least once an hour and now I'm noticing I do it automatically more often which is a good thing

I think it’s interesting that we hold tension in our pelvises or necks or shoulders. I never thought about it until it affected my life so much. Now that I’ve read that book, I’m so aware of the pelvic tension that I can identify it and try to relax it as much as possible thought the day - retraining as you say. In December, this will be a year for me and the start of the pain. The worst was May - September. I actually have good days and good parts of days now. I’m hopeful. I pray others can find relief too as this is an awful condition.

Hi, I had a bilateral nerve block 2 days ago too. I was warned that pain may increase for a few days before settling. It certainly has and I have an increased sensation of a lemon stuck up my back passage. Keeping on top of it with paracetamol and ibuprofen. Still keeping a positive outlook and waiting for things to settle.

Hope this helps? Keep positive and I will be thinking of you. I'm sure the pain will improve (although I was also warned that there is a small chance the nerve block won't work).

Hey I had pain for a week after my trigger point injection with steroids for a different nerve, the genitofemoral nerve. Then 3 weeks pain free. Then last week I had bad pain for 3 days but it was much better than in the past and I have gone a week pain free. Just be warned that you may become extremely fatigued and my period was late and is lasting over 2 weeks now. I also don’t think exercise helped me either as I do weight training 4 times a week so that may have trigged my pain.

I just took co codomol 30/500mg once in the 6 weeks post injection. I am hoping that these steroids will work but defo see your pain doctor in 3 weeks to discuss everything you have experienced so far.

I hope your feel better soon!

Fatigue? I’m interested in your experience. Since having the steroid injection to do the nerve block three days ago I have been exhausted. Fell asleep on the sofa for two hours yesterday afternoon and still had a full 8/9 hours sleep on going to bed. How long did this last for you?

Hi there, I've not long had my second round of botox into pubirectalis muscle, identified with trigger point examination. For me both times had increase of pain settling after 4wks. I found whilst injections didn't eradicate pain I've had a definite lessening in intensity, Any small victory in managing pain works for me, I can tentatively sit on my bottom for short periods like a normal person!!!

Hope you have success in your treatment ,wish you well and stay strong!!
