trigger point injections

My pain doctor wants to inject my piraformis and obturator interns muscles to see if they will relax. I'm worried about it causing more problems because i've been trending towards the good lately and i don't want to go backward. Has anyone had these and what should i expect?

Anne, have you asked for your nerve block report? Are you sure the doctor used steroid? Some practitioners inject anaesthetic only and that is not a proper method of nerve block for diagnosing a nerve in trouble. The nerve block will fail then. I had two done incorrectly; both were done the way a block is done on a woman giving birth. Which nerve(s) are causing you pain? Do you know?

I appreciate your interest Konagirl. I need to look back at all of the paperwork and then message you. It was done at the Mayo Clinic in FL, on both sides, and I am almost certain it was steroid. Neither the pain management doctor there, nor other specialists are very knowledgeable about PN:( That is so disappointing!

The pudendal nerve experts are in France. They invented the decompression surgery. There are some surgeons in the United States that perform decompression surgery. Have you checked the Pudendal Neuralgia Hope blog?

How long have you been unable to sit? Can you lie down? Have you had any internal pelvic physiotherapy?

The longer the nerve is pinched the greater the amount of time it will take to heal if it is not released soon enough. Keep me posted. You likely need another block soon.

My U.S. surgeon believed that if three successive guided nerve blocks ( done a month apart over a three month period ) did NOT calm down the nerve then decompression surgery was needed stat!

Can you private message me as to who your US surgeon is? THX!

Did they do the injections under fluoroscopy?

Are they using Botox to the muscle or steroid to the nerve. There is a big difference. I,ve had both Botox helped for a few weeks. Nerve injections gave me very bad flare, no improvement at all.We are however all different, do your research before you commit would be my advice.
