Hi AndraS, while I haven't heard of the diva cup nor the hideaway tool, I have heard a fewl people comment about how it may take several tries to get a pessary properly fitted. I suppose sometimes surgery may be unavoidable, but after my 2 surgeries for Pelvic prolapse where they finally resorted to using a mesh, I'm now suffering with nerve damage. No one seems to have any answers for those of us whose lives have been destroyed, all because they pushed us into believing surgery was the only answer. I've also heard about surgeries being done where they use your own tissue or a method of stitching, instead of a foreign material. Please just find a very knowledgeable doctor who will lay out all of the options for you before you make a life changing decision. Good luck!

Hi I’ve had a Manchester Repair 10 years following a Haig Ferguson Forceps delivery and the repair was great as lasted 24 years. I prolapsed again and this time had an anterior and posterior repair but a year apart. No mesh used in any of these ops but I now have vulval and groin pain which was probably caused by something that happened to me on the operating table and could be from a herniated disc. I’m using Estriol 0.1% vaginal cream taking Pilates class weekly and going to physio. Also on Gabapentin which just takes the edge off the pain. In between my ops I had a pessary ( donut) which I thought was uncomfortable but nothing like as uncomfortable as I am now.

I would return to use a pessary if possible as don’t want anymore surgery

I am having a pessary fitted in July. It is a plastic one and am now really worried about this. Doctor said they are fine. She has fitted lots. My partner researched these. Amazon sell them , they are 2.50. The flexible ones are 50.00. Says it all really. Anyway will try plastic. I am much worse than I was when originally diagnosed. It seems I have bulges everywhere. The new doctor says the rectocele is not that bad. Certainly feels bad to me. She said I have also developed a caruncle which is like a tag on the bladder. Just feel i am falling apart. No one seems to be concerned about these things , just me. So worried about surgery.

Hi Mae I havent had a plastic one but Im in UK and they use silicone flexible ones as they have to twist them up to flick them in. I think that sounds worse but its fine and better if the doctor fits it as you will know its in the correct position The doctor should measure the space inside with their fingers

Ive had a urethral caruncle after a forceps delivery I had that sorted with a cystoscopy

Try and get a gynaecologist to size and fit Good luck

Hi Mae,

I have a vaginal prolapse and have just been told I need a hysterectomy, I’m going to get a second opinion. I’ve tried various pessaries and none worked, they all popped out and I kept pushing them back in, I gave up. I’m just telling you this as I dont want you to get your hopes up, but it maybe that my body wasn’t suited to these pessaries as I’m quite thin and you may find them ok. I can’t see how you can have sex with these pessaries which was also a problem for me.

I’m also worried about surgery, and I feel I’m falling apart too.

I hope the pessaries work for you. I’ll probably have to opt for surgery.

All the best,

Catherine

Hi AndraS,

I too have prolapses along with being diagnosed with Pudendal Neuralgia. I have extreme pain and anxiety, which is always made worse by being on my feet so the prolapse is worsened, therefore the pain is also. I had no success with a pessory either. I am interested in learning more about the devices you mentioned in your post. Could you please tell me where I might find them?

Thank you for your help.
