Prolapse
The pelvic floor exercises are a good idea, and I find the NHS Squeezy app really helpful (it is quite cheap), so whatever type of prolapse you have, I would start doing these regularly. If you're not sure whether you're doing it correctly, you could see a physio who specialises in pelvic area. I found there was a significant benefit much more quickly than your doctor suggests -- within three weeks a big difference. I have also used natural sponges as a vaginal pessary, and these help hold things up a bit so that the bulge is much less noticeable (at least they do for me). You don't need to see a doctor to get them and try them, and they can be used many times and are relatively inexpensive. You haven't said whether you're pre or post menopause and that also makes a difference, as does whether and how you've had babies.
Is that nhs app 2.99 one and no im only 28 and im not goinf though the menopause i had one baby 8 years ago but i had to have bit stitching down there as they had to cut doen there
Yes, the NHS one that costs £2.99, that's right. And you're so young! But that means your muscle tone should respond quickly, so it's good. Have faith. You can sort this out with the right approach and you may be able to reverse it completely. If you don't find the app helping, ask to be referred to a specialist physio, who can work with you. The episiotomy you had after the baby is a separate thing, but it shouldn't be contributing to any issues now. But you're probably needing to feel healthy and well to chase round an eight-year-old! Since you're in the UK, take a look at the FPOPSUK FaceBook group -- some really helpful files there, and more info about physio exercises (one of the admins is a specialist physio and she really knows her stuff).
I thought the NHS app was not much at first, but when I really read its bit of instructions, and faithfully followed the recommendations, it gradually began to be really useful. I have to accept that I don't, without a structured reminder, repeat the right exercises regularly. I tend to give up. But with this, I have stuck at it. The FPOPS group is also really helpful.
Agreed it can be scary. Forgive me for laughing at your typo, but the alarm you can feel IS like a bugle as well as a bulge. And I know it's not funny. It's horrible. And surprisingly uncomfortable. I got REALLY upset about it.
I did the exercises carefully and regularly but I also used a vaginal sponge at first. You can get these yourself without having to see a doctor and they help hold things up, are soft and easy to insert and remove, and don't cost a fortune (though they aren't without cost). You can buy them on Amazon and many other places and give it a try. I got mine here: puresponges.co.uk/prolapse-...
Some people use these sponges for menstrual flow; I was never aware of all of this until recently, but at least it helps convince me they're safe and easy to use, provided you look after them correctly.
After about three weeks, I found I didn't need the sponge every day, and now I use one now and again when things seem to drop a bit, which usually has something to do with a bit of constipation or something like that. Mine is a vaginal prolapse and I am about two months down the line of living with it, but most of the time now I'm not aware of it. I am also more than twice your age, with two adult children, so generally my body has been around long enough to be a bit worn out. When you're younger, any muscle work should be easier and quicker, I think.
Good luck. There's every chance you can sort this out. Give it time and be optimistic!
Hi just thought l would tell you l too have prolaspe. I use my kegel8 ultra20 once a day which stops the horrible dragging lump feelings. I also have a ring pessary inside me which also holds things up. I take one sachet of macrogol powder with nearly a pint of water with my main meal because of this l have no constipation it's on my prescription. Good luck with everything. It's good to share on personal issues
Well don't. Get constipation sorted. Loads of helpful suggestions in the FPOPS group. It definitely contributes to the problem and is possible to fix.
