Hi Natasha, yes I am now 68 but had a full hysterectomy 21 years ago. I have had bad back pain but didn't think of a prolapse. However, over the past few months I could feel a prolapse in my vagina. In the end I was referred to a specialist and saw him on Monday.

He said my vagina was prolapsed at the rear, next to the bowel, and the top. I'm going for surgery next week to but stitched up. He explained that he stitches the vagina up to ligaments and the stitches create scar tissue that, hopefully keep everything in place. The stitches dissolve after about six weeks. This is a surgical option. If it's not as far collapsed as mine sometimes a peasant type 'ring' is used to keep everything in place. Afterwards you have to rest and for no heavy lifting or hoovering for about six weeks, just like after giving birth or a hysterectomy.

Good luck to us both eh!

I have a prolapse and the surgeon said he will due more harm than good if he operates, due to having Interstitial Cystitis, Pudendal Neuralgis and pelvic floor muscle spasms. It feels like something has fallen into my rectum. I know tmi but with a gloved finger I can feel it up there and it hurts bad when I touch it. I don’t know what it is though. I have been to colorectal dr too and they say nothing there even though when she touched it with scope I was screaming. I’m at a loss what to do. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry we all going through so much. God bless.
