Hi, I'm new to the site and most importantly new to this prolapse I have been suffering with for the last 6 weeks. I am an active and otherwise fit 63 old.I've been told by my GP that it is Stage 2 and also been told to do regular pelvic floor excercise, ( which I am 3 times a day.
I was sent for an ultra sound scan and had bloods taken
Along with my prolapse I developed bad constipation too which I now have under control which relieved me of terrible pelvic pain and bloating.
I must say I have improved in the last week which a huge positive as I have felt quite down with other symtoms i.e the bulging and heavy feeling down below as soon as I try to do anything when on my feet for any length of time and now I have now developed terrible back pain on a regular basis which varies in degrees of pain and feels almost like a trapped nerve maybe. I just wondered if anyone else had the same experience with their back?
Thanks for reading

Have you been offered a pessary to support while you are on your feet? Have you been shown this assistance device? CmtMedical.com It can help support esp with constipation. Helps avoid further damage.
If you eventually need or choose surgery, ask about how the repair is to be done. While mesh or filament support is quicker and less recovery time, some regret it later (complications). And the most important thing after any surgery is Do Not Lift more than a 1/2 gallon of milk (liter) for 6 weeks!
I will say I am confused with anterior wall (towards the front), but pain towards the back?
Urinary infections are easier to get - so be vigilant about seeing a doctor if you have symptoms.
I would reorder these paragraph but on a cell phone for now 🤣🤷♀️
Thank you for replying. I was told by my GP it's definitely anterior. My back ache has reduced lately I'm pleased to say but never quite goes altogether.
My GP has mentioned having a ring pessary if my symptoms haven't improved within 8 weeks of my diagnosis but the thought of having that fills me with dread after reading quite a few women saying they have not had good experiences.
what you have sounds like a rectocele. I had surgery to correct the same issue 15 months ago. I suggest you consult a Urogynaecologist and a pelvic floor physiotherapist for advice and treatment.
Thank you for replying. I've been told by my GP it's definitely anterior prolapse.
I'm hoping not to go down the route of having surgery but the longer I have symptoms of bulging etc I am worried that I will end up with no choice other than to undergo surgery.
I have to go back to see my GP in a few weeks if I have no improvement to discuss my next step, so I'll be asking to be referred to Gynaecology then.
I was wondering what your experience was of your surgery please ?
Hi. I have also been diagnosed with back rectocele prolapse and, although it’s not too bad at the moment, I feel as I should have ‘repair’ surgery before it gets worse.
My gynaecologist said I should contact her after Christmas re booking in for surgery but I am very nervous.
Has anyone had this type of surgery and how have you been?
recovery takes a while but I was never in pain. I had soreness from the perineum stitches but that was easily relieved with ice pads. Please try to see a Urogynaecologist, not a gynaecologist. They are the experts on vaginal prolapse repairs. If you use Facebook I can recommend the group “rectocele patients”. For support and advice and to hear of others experiences. This condition is far more common than you’d imagine but rarely talked about.
