Newbie , hello all...

Hi all, I've been in cronic pain since having a starr procedure nearly a month ago! Doctor made me feel it's all in my head, so glad I found this site. A hot water bottle, hot baths and gabentin 2400mg upto 3200mg a day plus prescribed amitriptyline 30 mg at night. Was on codeine, paracetamol (still take) and oramorph and a tens machine. Had bladder retention, but improving greatly and CT scan, should up nothing. I think it's nerve damage, they said my pelvic area is spasm. Hope this is temporary, but my body telling something is wrong. Need to wait 4 months to see the consultant again. Only relief I get is lying on my side with a hot water bottle .

Abdominal adhesions for me. They don't show up on imaging. Gabentin did nothing for me or several others I'm in contact with. So far my best relief has been several small easy to digest meals a day, and stretching the abdomen. Direct pressure on the worse of the pain site also helped. If I can think of anything else I will be in touch.

If your pelvic floor is in spasm.. Have they referred you to pelvic floor physical therapy?

I'm so sorry you're in pain and I hope it's only temporary. I was left in agony after prolapse surgery in February 2009 and just like you, the surgeon refused to believe I had a problem. I was left without pain killers and couldn't get any help, so I tried to take my own life, it was only then, a year later that my distraught husband and family got my doctor to seek help for me. I found out I had pudendal nerve damage and take amitriptyline and pregabalin and use topical cream and vaginal pessaries. I would suggest seeing a physio anyway, while waiting to see the consultant. I went to see a physiotherapist last year and was told physio needs to be done as soon as possible after an injury. If it is PN you would need to see a proper specialist in physiotherapy that actually touches the area. The one I saw just gave exercises which did help a little. I am currently waiting to see if I can get funding, to see a 'touching specialist physiotherapist, as I can't get this through the NHS. I also bought a book from an American physiotherapist called Heal Pelvic Pain by Amy Stein and that would also help you,as even if it isn't PN you know you have pelvic pain. You can get it on Amazon for about £10.

Please keep me posted on your progress. Sending hugs.

That's great thanks paulyne, they sent a mental health dr to see me in hospital as they said I was very emotional! He said I wasn't depressed. I was in cronic pain and they said some people deal with pain better than others , I said I have 3 labours (I know pain) ...

How did that comment make you feel? Shamed? You are a pain veteran, both acute and now chronic. Sending positive thoughts your way to get helpful treatment. These ideas won't cure anything but even a 10% improvement is useful: loose clothing that doesn't irritate sensitive areas and just the right seat cushion.

I found a Tempur seat cushion helpful. But several years on I find I'm using 2 of them.

Just been refered to pain clinic
