Laparoscopic Adhesiolysis

Hi all. I'm after some advise from anyone who has had this procedure. I have been suffering with severe pelvic pain for sometime now and after a laparoscopy to rule out endometriosis and Provera to reduce my hormone levels, my Gyne now thinks it's the "extensive" adhesions in my abdomen that are causing the pain. I've had it all explained that the surgery could cause more Ashesions but as my husband and I are trying to conceive but can't due to my pains, they hope this will give me a break from the pain for us to then get pregnant.

My main question is related to recovery time. My surgery is 23rd Oct and we move from the UK to Germany 25th Nov; I need to pack a whole house in between that time.

Also, I was basically told by my Gyne that if the Provera didn't work and this surgery doesn't work, the only way to be pain free is to get pregnant or have a hysterectomy. Surely these aren't my only two options?! Some days my pain is so bad and I'm so exhausted and fed up that I ask myself what do I want more; a child or to be pain free. On bad days the latter wins.

Has anyone had this surgery and it was a success? If it wasn't, what was your next step? Thanks in advance! Sarah

Hi Mrs Rothers, are you able to read my posts from the beginning? I joined in July. Was in exactly same position as you last May but I decided to say no to any more surgery, found alternative ways to deal with pain and sex, gave up on having kids and then - voila - baby turned up a month later. There is a third option, which is learn to deal with the pain - I've mentioned methods I used in previous posts but if you can't see them, I can DM you. It is possible. However the definitive answers do appear to be pregnancy or hysterectomy. I'm at wk20 now and pregnancy has been painful since wk12 but am assured that I will be "cured" completely by wk28 as the adhesions would have stretched beyond anything normal by then. You're not alone. I thought I was too. But we others do exist. Let me know how you get on with my previous posts and if you have any questions or need any help. Happy to oblige. Xxx

Sarah,

Regarding recovery time, it is very individual depending on how extensive the surgery is. Have you been told where the adhesions are ? this is important information to have so that you can decide the best approach especially if you are trying to conceive. You can request copies of any procedure. It can take a few weeks to get the information which you need to request from the hospital. How long have you been trying for a baby ?
